BC NEWS DATELINE 5/13 - Paulie B reporting
Hola! I know that it's been awhile, but the Pegger and I have been recuperating from a great but long run at The Celtic Ray, (and really bad Cavs playoff basketball as of late) but it's back to the "real" world! LOL The "real" world with Richie in it, that is... That's right, if you've been jonesin' for some BC3, this is your weekend. If you're really lucky, the Rooster may be along for the ride! ; )
Saturday we'll be at THE HOOLEY HOUSE in Mentor, OH. Show starts at 9:00pm. We'll be celebrating somebody's birthday, and we missed last months show, so we should have some extra juice in the tank. (unlike a certain basketball team 2 nights ago) But I digress, (I still believe the Cavs will win the series... and in Santa! ; ) it should be a GREAT night. Join us if you can!!
Sunday, (after the Cavs win game 7 ; ) we'll be in Dublin, OH at Digger and Finch for a very special fundraiser. Sandra Puskarcik and the good people of Dublin, OH are banding together to throw a very special afternoon of music to benefit THE ANDREW GRENE FOUNDATION For more info please visit our schedule page and click on May 16th. Green For Grene is going to be a great event, for a great cause. We're looking forward to sharing the stage with some great musicians and friends.
Despite my crazy basketball predictions, I'd like to assure everyone that I'm not drunk, and haven't gone completely crazy. I just don't believe that it's going to end this way for the Cavs. But remember one thing, I self-admittedly am and always will be a "homer." This all could be a bad case of self-denial, we'll see... At least I'm used to the pain... LOL
Have a great weekend, and GO CAVS!!
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 4/20 - Paulie B reporting
Hey there, thanks for checking in!
The Pegger and I are still in Florida, although we're down to our last weekend at The Ray, this upcoming weekend. (where did the time go?) We've had an absolute blast at The Celtic Ray, but alas, it's almost time we head back up north...
New Show News:
We (being Peggy, Richie and myself) are looking forward to performing at: The Green for Grene Fundraiser in Dublin, OH at Digger & Finch That's right, we will have Richie with us for this event! The three of us are very glad to lend our support to the Grene family, and their cause. We applaud them, as well as Sandra Puskarcik and her many volunteers from the great city of Dublin, OH, also the people from Digger & Finch. Along with those who are performing that day, we are all trying to continue the legacy of Andrew Grene. Simply put, a most decent man, family man, and humanitarian. For more info visit: http://www.andrewgrene.org The date is Sunday May 16, for more info go to our appearance page and click on the day. ( May 16th) Who knows? Maybe the Rooster will even be up for that one... we'll see...
Working on nailing down details for a big race weekend show in Indy for the Pegger and me. What I can tell you for now, is that it will probably be at the Northside K of C on Saturday May 29. As always, keep checking back for new news.
That's it for now...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 4/10 - Paulie B reporting
Greetings! It's a beautiful morning here in Port Charlotte, FL. For those of you reading this up north, I'll spare ya the details... The only thing I can really say that's bad, is there's enough pollen in the air to choke the heartiest of mules... or some may say asses. ; )
Things have been going really well, although I'm not sure how long I can keep this pace going. The last thing the Pegger and I have been doing, is letting the grass grow under our feet while we've been down here. We've been going non-stop since Easter, starting with a great two-day trip to Anna Maria Island (one of our very favorite places in the world) where we got to spend some quality time with the the Ryans. It wasn't all "beach time," as the men-folk snuck in 18 holes on Monday morning at the Manatee Golf Club. Hey, it was hot!! Especially for a guy who takes enough swings for 18 holes, when he's only playing nine... You are welcome to do the math, but amazingly enough, I can't seem to find the scorecard!
Tuesday we picked up our friends (SpongeBob & Kevin McCarthy) and went up to Augusta, GA for the practice round of the Masters on Wednesday. I could write a book about the two days we spent together on that journey, but needless to say, by the time we dropped them off on Thursday, I was ready for... well, detox.
Yesterday we went up the river with Captain Louie on the Punta Gorda River Boat Tours. It's RELAY FOR LIFE weekend here in Punta Gorda, and half the proceeds from the trip went to the cause. We raised some pretty good money as the trip was sold-out, and we saw some amazing wildlife. If you ever get the chance to go out with Captain Louie, it's a must-do in my book. Last night, we had a pretty nice little Friday night at the Celtic Ray. Good crowd, good singers, lots of fun.
Today we'll be at the high school at 4:30pm, performing for the walkers, volunteers, and whoever else is around, and we'll amp things up tonight back at the Ray again at 8pm. We're expecting lots of family at the show tonight, so consider yourselves warned... LOL We'll be back at the Ray tomorrow afternoon at 4pm, and then it's blind-draw dart tournament at Muzak Mike's tomorrow night! Other than that, we don't have a single thing going down here... Haha!
Also, due to the recent storms that ravaged parts of New England, we've pushed back our appearance that was originally scheduled for the first weekend in May at Tara's JFP a couple of weeks. The tentative new dates are on the Appearance page. Sorry for any inconvenience to anyone, but Mother Nature is a fickle woman...
That's all the time I have for now. You can follow our escapades a lot closer on facebook. Just type in Brigid's Cross on the search, and you'll find us.
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 3/29 - Paulie B reporting
WOW!! What a first weekend at The Celtic Ray! Peg and I couldn't be any happier with how things went! Well, there was that one guy on Friday night at the end of the show... but hey, that's also part of what makes America such a great country! Sure, his timing may have been a bit off, but what are ya gonna do? I felt kind of like I was having my own Kanye West/Taylor Swift moment! LOL As great as the weekend was, it sure has taken its toll on the Pegger and me. We talked it over with Kevin earlier this morning, and we decided to back off of the karaoke nights. We just don't think we have it in us. We'd rather save our energy for the shows! So I've taken them off of our schedule. Also, a reminder that there will NOT be a show on Easter Sunday. However, there will be a show every other Sunday in April at 4pm, God willing! Peg and I will crank it up again this Friday and Saturday night at The Celtic Ray @ 8pm. Hope to see you at the Ray! We were surprised this week by a visit from the Welker's and Punta Gorda loved them some Whitey on the cowbell. I didn't know there were so many BOC fans in Punta Gorda, but Whitey was busy happily signing autographs for about a half an hour after the show! Punta Gorda was not happy when they found out he had to go back home, there were crocodile tears all around, but everyone was consoled by the promise of perhaps a return visit next year. Special thanks to both Whitey & Beth for helping us with the merch and more, all weekend. That's it for now!
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 3/18 - Paulie B reporting
Happy Day After, or Happy Survivor's Day!! (that's the way we look at it!) LOL What a blur! Peg and I had a great run going starting with Wheeling at the Celtic Celebration (an AWESOME time in Wheeling again!) and has brought us smack dab into the middle of now... We had a great night last Wednesday in East Dundee with our buddy Shay Clarke at Rosie's. Thursday found Peg and me, at one of our very favorite venues ever, Jimmy's Bar in Peoria. It was great to be back in Peoria, after way too long! Friday we hit The Golden Ace . How do we feel about The Ace? Another one of our very favorites! We've been going there for years, and we don't see that trend ending anytime soon!! Another great night at The Ace!! Lookout for show info on this upcoming Indy 500 weekend!! Looks like that could happen. Now a couple of you said that you had the hook-up for us as far as race tickets/pit passes, etc... Hit me at

if you can hook a brother up! LOL Saturday, we had a great night with Richie at The Hooley House, maybe our best night ever, there. And yesterday was the MADNESS that is ST. PATRICK'S DAY!! We had a blast on our float at The Cleveland St. Patrick's Day Parade. Our thanks out to the Parade Committee for having us once again, and special thanks to the Welkers, the Hohos, SpongeBob, our marching unit, and everybody who helped from The Hooley House. We had the Rooster on the squeezebox, Whitey on the cowbell, SpongeBob on the flute and were blessed by Monsignor Hoho's pressence. Cleveland, you looked AWESOME in your holiday green! And the Paddy Training winners looked great marching. After the parade. we beat-feet back to the Hooley, and were blown away by the amount of people! This was our second (but in a lot of ways our first) St. Patrick's Day at The Hooley House. If you were there, hopefully you found your service and food enjoyable. Everyone sure seemed happy! We learned that we'll have to beef-up the sound system for next year, our apologies to those who had a problems hearing. We didn't get a lot of complaints, but we know we can do better, and we will next year!! Please, God! Like I said... we're still learning! ; )
Well, all of this has brought us to today. Peg has been a real trooper, and somehow she fought through the season battling whatever cold it is out there that seems to have so many people battling, but it seems to have taken its toll. Therefore, sadly, we are going to back off of this weekend at The Celtic Ray. Even if we could make it in time, I'm not sure either of us would have much left to give a proper show. We hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too terribly, and our profound apologies if it does. We plan on starting our run at The Celtic Ray next Friday, March 26. Hope to see you there!
Also, please keep our friends at Tara's JFP in your prayers. Matunck Beach has been slammed by a wicked Nor-Easter, and it washed away a lot of beach and did considerable damage to the property. We wish and hope the best for our friends in the area who have been affected. I believe you can follow their story off of our BC facebook page, if you're interested.
There's more to talk about, but not today. That's it for now...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 02/22 - Paulie B reporting
Wow!! I just posted a ton of dates to our Appearance Schedule page. There are dates through the end of September, including our 6 WEEK RUN AT THE CELTIC RAY starting on March 19th and going through the end of April, MATUNUCK DATES AT TARA'S JFP, PUT-IN-BAY DATES, and some FESTIVAL DATES. There are some festivals we are still waiting for final word on, and we'll be adding those dates as we go, but I put down everything that we already have confirmed through til the end of September. Whoa, did I say the CELTIC RAY???!!! Yes, Peggy and I are looking forward to returning to Punta Gorda and THE CELTIC RAY, which is once again under OLD OWNERSHIP!!! We are very happy to announce that Kevin and Max are back in business, and so are we! We're looking forward to 6 great weeks of fun in the sun, as long as God and Mother Nature are cool with that! Make your plans to sneak down or should I say get-away and join us! Why should we have all the fun anyways??!! ; ) I'll try to rustle up some hotel info, as there's at least one more option other than the Best Western in PG now. This trip is about trying to get Kevin and Max off on the right foot, as they re-open their doors, so we won't be performing anywhere else. Again, we'd like to thank John and his family and crew over at The Ice House for having us a few weeks back, and we hope to be back there again in the future. But we really hope as many of you who can, will come out and visit us at the Ray while we are there on this run. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors. Hell, bring your enemies and point them out to us, and we'll make fun of them for ya! Just come on out and have some fun with us! All that calendar work has made me thirsty, and it is Monday...
That's it for now... Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 02/10 - Paulie B reporting
Happy Humpday!! A Wednesday post, it's been awhile...
We had an amazing weekend at The Ice House in Punta Gorda, FL. 3 days of great crowds, and even better times! Our thanks go out to everybody who came out to the shows for making us feel so "welcomed home." John, his family and crew at The Ice House were wonderful hosts, the Pegger and I couldn't be happier with the way the weekend went. We've been given an open-ended invititation to return, which is always nice. We'd like to thank them for their hospitality.
We're hoping to return to PG in late March or sometime in April. We'll either be at The Ice House again, or at The Celtic Ray if all goes there as planned. It seems that The Celtic Ray is once again, Doyle owned, and Kevin and Max are hoping to be back in business in a couple of weeks. We'll keep ya posted on all of this, as soon as we know, you'll know... so as they say, stay tuned.
One more thing: Please keep our friends at Tara's Joyce Family Pub in Matunuck Beach, RI in your prayers. They got slammed by a wicked Nor-Easter and it washed away a whole lot of beach and did considerable damage to property. We wish and hope the best for them! You can check it out off of our facebook page, if you're interested. Peg is also supposed to post some Parade pics a little later on our fb page, as well.
Well, I know this short, but we have a long trip to get ready for. I'll try to check in when we get home, please God!
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 02/02 - Paulie B reporting
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY & A BELATED HAPPY ST BRIGID'S DAY!!!
I would have posted yesterday, but it was a travel day across the state of Florida for the Pegger and me. Once again, we somehow managed to take what should have been a three hour trip, and turn it into an all day odyssey, but at the end of the day, we arrived safely in Port Charlotte, FL around 9pm last night, and that's what truly matters!
We had just the very best of times on the Irish Festival Cruise! It was an absolutely amazing entertainment line-up, if I may be so bold as to say so... LOL It was an incredible blend of traditional, contemporary, and original celtic/folk/rock music by legends and newcomers alike. My personal new favorite was Ennis, if you get the chance to see them, do it! I'm doing everything I can to get them to Ohio, and THE HOOLEY HOUSE, you can bet your sweet petutie on that one! : ) Two Tap Trio is another group to look out for. Brian Gaffney and Patsy Whelan were phenomenal, and getting the chance to jam with Matt (don't call him Phil) Cunningham, and watch his mastery at work was a personal treat for me. Captain Mackey's Goatskin and Stringband, featuring the men from Cork, Jimmy Crowley and his partner Mairtin de Cogain were also amazing. Eugene Byrne was on hand with his son Kevin, and they were wonderful as well. The Elders did a great job adjusting not only their set to the crowd, but handled a severe lack of gear like true pros! And what can you say about the Black family and Tommy Sands... true legends!! Ohio (and anywhere for that matter) would be lucky to have the likes of all these acts pass through for a show. Cleveland's own, Mike Mazur did an incredible job as an MC, but he also did a WONDERFUL job as a seanachie, with his story-telling program. Brilliant!! John Gleason also shared in the MC duties, and his footwear was stunning, as always. Paddy Reilly was sailing with us, and sang a couple of songs in the sessions. We saw a lot of old friends, and made some new ones, and how about this? I actually remember my visit to San Juan this time!! In short, a GREAT week on the high seas with Irish Festival Cruises. Thanks to Mary Rowley for having us aboard again this year!!
Sunday, Peg and I did a show for our good friends the McGourthy's from the Milwaukee area. They winter at Boyton Beach, and we did a private event for them that was just too much fun!
Now we're waiting on our weekend at the Ice House in Punta Gorda. We can't wait to see everyone, and hit 'em with the new stuff! Something old and something new, that's what we have in store for you, if you come out this weekend! Hope to see you here!
As far as our name goes, or should I say "Namegate." LOL After weighing out all our options, and receiving the advice from colleagues, venues, and friends, we are just going to continue to call ourselves Brigid's Cross, whether Richie is with us or not. Despite John Gleeson's wanting to rename us Brigid's Fire, Mike Mazur's suggestion of a different spelling for Brigid, and the name of Bridid's Cross that appeared on the cruise schedule... LOL But I digress... The shows where Richie WILL be with us will be marked with an asterisk or highlighted special somehow, but Peg and I have been having an identity crisis of sorts for the last year or so, and we have to make it stop. : ) Long live BC! (Please, God!)
Will check in later with more news, that's it for now...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 01/18 - Paulie B reporting
Greetings! Peg and I are trying to get packed and ready for our trip south. We set sail on the Irish Festival Cruise out of Ft Lauderdale, this coming Saturday the 23rd. 7 days on the high seas... : )
ATTENTION! There has been a change in plans for our Florida schedule:
We're excited about the first week of February at The Ice House in Punta Gorda (408 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda 941-575-0866) We'll be performing on Friday Feb 5 at 8pm, Sat the 6th at 8pm and Sunday the 7th at 3pm before the Superbowl! Unfortunately, we had to cancel the second week of February due to a scheduling conflict back home...but we are hoping to be back down in Punta Gorda to perform in April! So please keep checking the schedule for upcoming dates. Our sincere apologies go out to anyone who made plans for that second weekend...hope you can make the first weekend, of April! We would love to see you all down there.
Our Green Season schedule is up as well, if you aren't seeing the shows on your screen yet, they should be showing by tomorrow. (1/19) There are also a couple of shows not yet listed, or with details pending. As always, check back for updates, we'd sure hate ya to cheat yourself out of a good time!
Ok, we're throwing something out to the BC Faithful, we'd like your help on this one. When Richie decided to cut back on the touring, but still wanted to have the option to play (as BC) once in awhile, Peg and I thought we'd leave BC as the three of us. That's why we came up with The Odd Couple name, for when Richie wasn't going to be around. I thought it would be a great way for everybody to know when Richie was going to be there, or when he wasn't. If it was BC, he'd be there. If it's TOC, he wouldn't. The only problem is everybody seems to hate it! Ok, hate may be a strong word, but there has been very little positive said about it... if anything. The general consensus from most people (including venues, especially venues) is that Peg and I have always been the creators and driving force behind the band, and why on earth would we want to change our name??!! The answer is, we didn't. The only reason we changed our name was to try and make it easy for everybody to figure out what they were coming to see. But if it doesn't matter... So, there's our question. Does it? Does it matter? Should we just be Brigid's Cross all the time, whether Richie is there or not? Maybe we could just put an asterisk on the dates he'll be performing with us. Ya know, give him Barry Bonds status. The truth is, after all we've been through with this name change thing, we think we know what we're going to do, but what you think does matter. If you care one way or other, find us on Facebook and give us a shout. Or leave it on our guestbook, does that thing even still work? LOL Either way, we'd like your input. If you don't want to publicly leave your input, please send your opinion to:

Peg and I will be checking in during our travels, follow us on BC's Facebook, or Peg's, or mine...
Peg and I are sorry for missing the St Practice Day party at The Hooley House this past Friday night. Thanks to everybody for their concern, Peggy's food poisoning may have actually have been a bit of a virus, because there was a trickle down effect on myself on Saturday and Sunday... LOL Okay, maybe I should have phrased that better... Either way, both of us feel much better today. Kudos to Richie who stepped in and did a fab job all by himself, by all accounts! He does it every Tuesday night around 6pm or so at The Hooley House, Hooley with Richie! I'm just sayin...
Peace!

Happy Humpday! I know, crazy, another post in less than a week... Don't get used to it! LOL
Peg and I are looking forward to loading up our sleigh, and heading out this weekend. Thursday is Toledo, Friday is Grand Rapids, and Saturday is West Dundee!! All of these stops are holiday favorites, and we're looking forward to seeing our friends and extended family all along the way! These are the only "longer distance" drives we're doing this year, with the exception of Indianapolis (Golden Ace) on Fri, Dec 11. Times being what they are, we had to scale it back for several reasons. We do have a few more in-town Christmas performances as well...a couple of them will even be with Richie! Although we can't get to as many of you as we'd like to, I'm working on trying to get something together for THE ENTIRE WORLD online, (LOL) but I'm not ready to tell you anymore than that, for now... (I know, such a tease...) Haha!!
BIG NEWS! (especially for those of you who are looking for that SUPER Christmas/holiday gift!)

...and a Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you all. I know, I know... it's been a while! For what it's worth, I REALLY enjoyed "stepping back" for a bit, but it's almost time for the Pegger and myself to load up the sleigh, and hit the road!
We (Peg and I) had a great time at Casey's on the night before Thanksgiving, and we're looking forward to tonight at The CopperTop, show starts at 8pm! Great food at The CopperTop, I'm just sayin...
Tomorrow night, the Pegger and I are getting our DJ thing on, and we'll be at THE HOOLEY HOUSE!! We'll get things going just after the Cavs game, I'd imagine. Speaking of great food, plan on watching the Cavs, having dinner, and then dancing it off with us at THE HOOLEY HOUSE tomorrow night!! There will be games, contests and lots of fun on hand with 2 P's in a Pub.
Seeing as it is Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, I'm going to sign off this way. We are fortunate enough and blessed enough, that we have people coming up to us all the time and asking us if they can do anything for us, so as to show their appreciation for what we do. I personally have always felt that we're the ones who should be trying to show our appreciation to you, but that's beside the point. If you happen to be one of those people who want to "help" us, might I ask you this favor.
I know that money is tight for a lot of people right now. But we are, as I said before (and I never repeat myself ; ) in the holiday season. If you have gift buying of any kind to do, please support some of our friends who have supported us throughout the years. I wish I could name everybody, but here are a few suggestions for your gift-giving needs.

For Music: A great collection of celtic music can be found at the Rampant Lion. Visit Jack and Gayle Baker (no relation, just good folks) at: http://www.rampantlion.com

Hola! The Odd Couple enjoyed the heck out of The Fox Valley Irish Festival this past weekend! St. Catherine's parish was rocking, and we had a really good time! It was great (as always) sharing the stage with The Larkin and Moran Brothers, and this year The Mickey Finns made their FVIF debut. We look forward to continuing the party with them (TMF) in Indy this weekend!
Yep, this weekend is Indy. Indiana's calling... Peg and I are really looking forward to seeing our buds from SoCal, who'll be making a rare midwest appearance: The Fenians. Word has it that my buddy Tardu is making the trip! I hope it's not another one of those nasty rumors... lol It's been WAY too long since we've seen our favorite Turkish friend!! Now, if only Pam and Booger were making the trip... Maybe The Odd Couple has to head to Cali??!!
Before we leave for Indy, on Thursday we're celebrating Halfway to St. Patrick's Day, with our monthly St. Practice Day Party at The Hooley House! We'll get going about 7:30pm, hope to see ya at THH!
That's it for now, oh yeah, I blogged earlier... REALLY! Go check it out!!
Peace!

Peg and I had a great Labor Day weekend at Put-in-Bay. Hooligan's was hopping, although it was a bit of a "quiet" Labor Day weekend on the Bay. Good times, none the less!
We stuck around for "The Last Boat" festivities, which have been a severely outdated island tradition, but too good of a party to let die... LOL Basically in a nutshell, the last boat off of Put-in-Bay on Labor Day used to signify the end of the season. So back in the day, all the employees and residents of the island would gather around to see the last boat of the season off. Over the years, the season has extended until Halloween, but the party on Labor Day Monday never went away. Now it's become a full-blown affair with fireworks and island entertainers having a bit of a session. More good times!
This weekend The Odd Couple is off for The Fox Valley Irish Festival, held at St. Catherine's Church in West Dundee, IL. We're looking forward to seeing our buddies The Larkin and Moran Brothers and The Mickey Finns. Hope to see you in Dundee this weekend!
Peace!

Labor Day weekend, already??!!! Unbelievable!!
Peggy and I have been having a great time in The Odd Couple mode. This past weekend we had an AWESOME time at Hooligan's Irish Pub on Put-In-Bay, OH, we'll be back there this Friday and Saturday night at 10:30pm and Sunday at 2pm and 9:30pm. The show we originally had scheduled for Saturday afternoon has been cancelled due to the Buckeyes game.
Next weekend Peggy and I are off to West Dundee!! The Fox Valley Irish Festival is calling The Odd Couple's name. We can't wait to see all of our Fox Valley/Chicagoland area friends.
That's all for now,
Peace!

Well, I know it's been a while, but life has been kinda crazy lately, but let's start with the good news! Richie just called us about a half an hour or so ago, and he has been medically cleared, and he WILL BE WITH US IN MILWAUKEE THIS WEEKEND... as long as God doesn't have any other plans! LOL For those of you not in the know, Richie missed The Dublin Irish Festival due to an emergency appendectomy surgery. There were minor complications, but the doctor said today that he can return to "doing whatever he wants, minus heavy lifting." (I wouldn't count on seeing him stepdance for awhile though... LOL) So life seems to be getting back to normal for Richie. We're all looking forward to this weekend in Milwaukee!!
We are so glad that Richie is starting to feel better...he had a tough couple of weeks, for sure! If anyone wants to send him some good wishes, feel free to e-mail him at:
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Richie's situation pressed The Odd Couple (Peg and I) into action in Dublin. We missed Richie not being there, and we were so sorry to see the disappointed looks on everybodies faces, but despite that, we still had an AWESOME time! It wasn't a situation I think I would have put us into on purpose (especially being on the GIANT rock stage on Friday, just the two of us... lol) but at least now we know we can do it! We hope everybody who came out to our shows over the weekend left happy enough. A little Odd Couple love wouldn't be the worst thing to see in our Guestbook! I'm just sayin...
This past weekend The Odd Couple went to Put-in-Bay... LOL We had a FANTASTIC time at Hooligan's Irish Pub. We saw a lot of folks from all over the midwest, and everybody was asking about Richie... and The Rooster. We are blessed!! Now there's a question: I wonder if The Rooster is planning on going to Milwaukee??? He didn't go to Put-in-Bay, maybe he was saving himself for Milwaukee??? I'll have to check on that one... Anyways, we had a great weekend at Hooligan's and Peg and I are looking forward to returning the last weekend of August and for Labor Day weekend!! I don't know if we'll have any other celebrity sightings, but we got to jam with one the the foremost cowbellists in the country on Sunday, but that's a story that will have to wait for another time! What happens at PIB stays at PIB!! LOL
That's gonna do it for now...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 07/31 - Paulie B reporting
Whew, so I finally get to sit here and fill you in on some things. To say it's been a hectic week would be putting it mildly. Here we go...
We had a great time at the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival last weekend. It was wonderful to see so many of the BC Faithful out and about. Overall, crowds were pretty good, a little light on Saturday, but the TV/Radio weathermen get a big assist on that one for over-sensationalizing the forecast a wee bit. Still, great crowds at all of our shows, and so great seeing everybody!!
Our new BC party t-shirts were such a big hit, one of the local reporters bought one and wore it on the air, while he was covering the festival. We have them with us here in Dublin, along with a new edition: get to the pint shirt.
On Monday, the Pegger and I went up to Put-in-Bay, OH to MC/Host an Employee Party at The Upper Deck. What a great time we had with the crew of The Boardwalk/The Upper Deck & Hooligan's! Hooligan's Irish Pub is the official PIB home of The Odd Couple. The pub is BEAUTIFUL, and Peg and I are looking forward to our debut shows there, next weekend. But I'm getting ahead of myself... Anyways, if you know a thing or two about PIB, you know Peg and I didn't exactly stop partying. Couple in the fact the Iron Mike and Linda McGuire decided to join us, and the drinking factor goes right out the window! LOL
Tuesday, we got a bit of a break... ah, for Tuesday... LOL We came home on Tuesday and did the "essentials" that we all have to do to keep our house from falling in all around us. So that was a nice easy day of mowing the lawn/house cleaning/laundry/running errands... and yes, I helped! LOL
Wednesday, it was time to get ourselves together to leave for Dublin on Thursday, and Peggy and I hosted Pub Trivia Wednesday night at The Hooley House. Well to make a long story as short as possible, while we were doing all this, young Richie wasn't feeling very good. So much so, that he actually went to a doctor, then went to the emergency room, and then had appendectomy surgery at 7am yesterday (Thursday) morning. Richie is fine and recovering from a successful, but a bit trickier than normal surgery, but it doesn't look like he'll be joining us this weekend in Dublin.
So, Peg and I are here in Dublin, holding down the fort so to speak. Last night was the most well attended Dub Crawl at The Brazenhead, ever! It was INSANE!!! Had the rain not chased a few (and only a few, considering) folks away right around the last half an hour or so, I would have loved to see what would have happened... LOL Maybe it's just as well... we have a long weekend ahead of us.
Today at 4:30pm, Peggy and I have what I feel will be a pretty fun show planned to kick-off the Friday festivities. We'll need the support of the BC Faithful more than ever this weekend, as we'll all miss Richie. Don't get me wrong, The Odd Couple is up to the task at hand, it's just that we're still trying to wrap our heads around all of this. We have a big "Get Well Richie" card that we hope everyone will sign, it will be by the merch table at all of our shows.
Outside our hotel room window, there's one heck of a beautiful day going on out there. If you can make it to Dublin by 4:30pm, we're gonna have a crazy good time!!!
GET WELL RICHIE!!!
Peace!

BC NEWS DATELINE 07/04 - Paulie B reporting
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!! Happy 4th of July to all. To all of our veterans, troops currently serving, their families and friends, thank you all for what you've done, or are currently doing. The same to all of our law enforcement, firefighters and other civil servants that make this the wonderful country we still are. We may be a little lost as country now (my opinion) but hopefully with a little (well, a lot of) hard work we can find our way back. That's not a Republican statement, it's not a Democratic statement, I believe it to be a simple truth. George Washington, the father of this great land of ours, over two hundred years ago expressed his concerns over what the "parties" would eventually do this country if we let them... too bad we didn't listen!
Anyways, (jumping off my soap box) we all hope that y'all have a great, safe, and happy holiday. Don't forget what we are actually celebrating, and don't forget to toss up a prayer, or send some good thoughts and vibes to all of the above-mentioned people. For me personally, this is one of those days I really miss my dad, and now my Uncle Paul...two brothers who really loved their country, defended their country, and are now together again for the first time in a long time on one of their very favorite holidays. Yeah, somewhere up above there's a big weenie roast going on, being hosted by the Baker brothers! Makes me smile just thinking about it...
Peg and I started our holiday weekend off yesterday, by visiting the Cleveland Tea Party with our friend Ann Marie. It wasn't a bunch of crack pots, as you might have heard...but rather a whole lot of regular people, concerned citizens, many of whom we recognized. There were people there affiliated with both parties, and quite a few independents. If you get a chance, I suggest you check out a Tea Party near you. You may agree with what you see/hear, or maybe you won't. But if you don't go, just get yourself informed about what's currently going on in our government, locally and nationally. Whoops, how did I get back on my soap box?? LOL
I recently added some shows to the schedule, including a FREE concert in Mentor coming up on the 14th of July, some karaoke shows at the HOOLEY HOUSE, and September will be added by next Tuesday.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
PEACE!

Top o' the morning to ya, on this fine St. Practice Day! That's right, St. Practice Day festivities will be under way tonight at THE HOOLEY HOUSE. We (BC) go on at 8pm, don't forget to dress in your finest St. Patty's Day garb, for your chance at being a monthly finalist. Trust me when I tell you, that's a blast.
We had just a super time at THE RIVERFRONT IRISH FESTIVAL this past weekend!! Our thanks to the festival committee, volunteers, and all who came out to our shows. From April 27...
WOW!!!! TWO MONDAY'S IN A ROW!!!
I know, I'm overdoing again... lol
We had a fun week last week, it was hectic, but fun. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. Really... I know I keep saying that, and any regular reader of this page knows that, but really think about it for a second... how fast time is really going by. Enjoy the ride folks! Make sure you take the time and really stop and enjoy the ride once in awhile. We all know the ride is way too short, we owe it to ourselves to appreciate what we have.
I/we appreciated everyone who came out and saw us last Wednesday night at Mavis Winkle's. Once again, nobody came up and gave Peggy the magic password, so there wasn't even a drawing for the free dinner. We're rolling the same promotion this week, for more details, read the post below. Same bat time, same bat password. Join us for our last of a month long run of shows. Our spotlight artist this past week was Neil Diamond, and he proved to be a very popular choice. It will be hard to top it, but we'll try. LOL
Friday night we had a bunch of fun rolling out Dolmen Stoned. Thanks to all who came out for the debut. After a great Cavs victory, I think most people were too pooped to really party, but we had a fun set none the less. We had a lot of fun stuff that we just didn't get a chance to get to, so we're really looking forward to next time.
The Larkin Brothers put on a great show on Saturday night. If you missed it, it really was your loss. I don't know if there is a group of guys out there, that have more fun on stage (or off, for that matter) than The Larkin and Moran Brothers!
This week, Peg and I (The Odd Couple) will be at Mavis Winkle's in Independence @ 6pm. Friday night, we'll be hosting karaoke at The Hooley House @ 10pm as: 2P's in a Pub.
Hope to see you somewhere...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 04/20 - Paulie B reporting
Just another manic Monday...
Lots of stuff to go over, BIG week ahead. Realizing that times are what they are, we have some chances for you to win some "relief," if you can afford to come out and join us for some fun!! Here's the deal!
Wednesday, The Odd Couple will be at Mavis Winkle's @ 6pm. Nobody gave us the secret password and since family can't win, Peg and I didn't get to buy dinner for anyone last week. So here's the deal, we're fine tuning the game a bit. If you come into Mavis Winkle's in Independence, OH this Wednesday, and tell Peggy the magic password, (we're rolling with PARSNIPS again!) you'll be eligible for a drawing we'll hold just before we end our show, somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00pm. Whatever is on your bill at the time your name is drawn, will be covered by Peg and I. (up to a $50 value!)
Thursday, The Odd Couple makes their Casey's Bar debut at 9:30pm. Peg and I are looking forward to a fun evening at Casey's. Casey's is located at 13601 Detroit Rd in Lakewood, OH. Somebody will win a $25 bar tab!! All you have to do is come into Casey's on Thursday night and tell Peggy the magic password, which is: THIRSTY. You'll then be eligible for a drawing we'll have at midnight for the $25 bar tab. Peg and I hope to see you at Casey's on Thursday.
Friday, right after the Cavs game (should be around 9:30pm or so) will be the debut performance of Dolmen Stoned at The Hooley House in Mentor, OH. In case you didn't know, Dolmen Stoned is basically Peg, myself (Paulie) and our good buddy, Kevin McCarthy. We've got a lot of fun stuff planned for this auspicious occasion. We're planning on covering celtic rock and folk, and folk and rock from many eras, right up til today. And you guessed it, somebody is going to win something on Friday night, too. If you come in and donate $5 to our bucket of love, you'll get a ticket. At midnight, we'll be drawing for a $50 Hooley House gift card that will be good for your next visit to The Hooley House. Your $5 donation will go to help fight MS. Peggy, Richie, myself, and a whole gang of folks from The Hooley House are taking part in the Mentor Walk for MS on Saturday. (the next morning) Hint: For every $5, you'll get a ticket, so if you wanna increase your chances... Hey, it is for a good cause...
Speaking of Saturday... Saturday, we welcome our very good friends The Larkin and Moran Brothers to The Hooley House. The Larkin's and Moran's call Chicago home, and they are just too much fun for words. If you like lively Irish music, jokes, toasts, and just laughing the night away, you'll LOVE the Larkin's and Moran's. Peg and I wouldn't dream of missing their show, and the kid will probably be working, unless he had the foresight to pull some strings...lol, so either way, we'll all be in the House!!
So, like I said... BIG WEEK!!! We hope to see ya around!!
The schedule is coming, honest!! Hopefully before the end of the week. I'll be posting through September, when I do, so be ready with your calendars... LOL
Have a GREAT week, everybody!!
Peace!

Enough of depressing old reality, you deserve a break today... we ALL do!! So, if you can get to Mavis Winkle's today, you might be the winner of dinner on The Odd Couple!!!
That's right, Peg and I are playing at Mavis Winkle's in Independence, tonight from 6 to 9pm. At the end of our show, we'll be giving away a $50 Mavis Winkles gift card. Dinner, on us!!! Come on out and forget about life for awhile!! All you have to do to win, is ask for a ticket, and give us the magic password. Peg will be sending out an e-mail later today with the password. The only way you'll get the e-mail is if you are a registered user on our website. So join today, if you haven't already!!
I've got all kinds of schedule updates coming soon, so check our Appearance Schedule later in the week. info on festivals, Put-in-Bay, and more...

HAPPY SURVIVOR'S DAY!!!!
WOW!!!!!
THE PARADE
What a great day yesterday was!! From the weather, (AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!) to the massive turnout at the parade, (estimated at over 400,000 by the Cleveland Police - CLEVELAND, YOU LOOKED AWESOME WITH YOUR IRISH ON!!!) to the turnout at THE HOOLEY HOUSE (WHICH WAS INCREDIBLE!!!) God was definitely smiling on the Irish!! The parade was SO much fun, I can't possibly put it into words. As with anything like that, it requires a LOT of behind the scenes help, and we'd like to thank Chris and Beth Welker for all of their help. They were real lifesavers for us yesterday! Getting everything organized to be in the parade, and get our float together... STUNK!! lol Once we hit the street and started rolling... it was AMAZING!! The feeling of seeing so many happy people lining the streets of downtown, just partying as if there weren't any worries in the world, in a time when we all know how many worries there actually are, was such a rush. For me, the best part was having our Andy and his Tara up on the float with us. The Rooster was there too, but he was a little harder to see, as he chose to sit on the tailgate. Also, thanks to Colleen, Christine and Zack for being on the float with us...what a great crew we had! We'd like to thank the parade committee and everyone associated with the parade for having us! Also a very special thanks to our friends from OHIO SELECT LANDSCAPING for letting us turn one of their trailers into our float. And I can't believe I forgot to mention our float guru and savior, Chris, from St. Vincent's. He was our Johnny on the spot, for sure. Thanks Chris!!
THE HOOLEY HOUSE
We made record time getting back to Mentor, from downtown, and arrived at another mob scene. I guess the word is officially out on THE HOOLEY HOUSE!! It was just great seeing so many friendly faces all day long. At the parade, at the bar... it was just a blast. Family, friends everywhere... THE HOOLEY HOUSE seemed to hold up very well. Big up's to the staff at THE HOOLEY HOUSE!! I know that I'm biased, but for everything to run as smoothly as it did yesterday, being open all of 3 full days prior, means that the team did one butt-kicking job!!
SURVIVOR'S PARTY
As of this typing, we're just four hours away... Pray for something important, but throw a few good blessings our way if you can. We'll need them! lol
Peace!

SAINT PATRICK'S DAY EVE!!!! One day away from the High Holy Day!!
Peg and I had a great time this past Saturday night in Toledo, at the Toledo Irish Festival. Toledo Central Catholic was rocking, and we just had a blast. Our thanks to all the great cats at Big Fish Sound. (Boy, could we have used them on Sunday.) lol It was great seeing the Toledo BC Faithful, thanks for coming out and partying with Peggy and I.
Mavis Winkle's turned out to be great fun, once we got past the first 20 minutes or so. It was the first time that Peg and I were in control of our own sound as The Odd Couple... at least we were supposed to be. (Wow... our apologies to all there for the rough start. Hopefully we have things figured out now... at least I hope we do... lol) After a few mishaps, we were finally able to get things going. (Thank God... lol) Once we got things going, we had a lot of fun. Peg and I are looking forward to Wednesday nights in April. (check our Appearance Schedule for more info)
Look for Brigid's Cross in the Parade tomorrow, and we'll be at The Hooley House just as soon as we can get there from the Parade.
As my friend Vinnie Joyce would say: "Don't drink like an idiot!!" In other words, have a great time, but be smart about it!!
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYBODY!!!!

Happy Humpday!!
Lots of BC News this week, let's get to it!
THE HOOLEY HOUSE OPENING ON MARCH 12 HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get everything quite where it needed to be. THE HOOLEY HOUSE will officially open to the public at 8pm on Friday March 13th. Why not?? In this family, opening on a Friday the 13th is par for the course. Onstage will be our buddies Morrison McCarthy @ 8pm. We'll (BC) play a set during their break, and maybe after... we'll see. Either way, it's going to be a great party! Come on out to Mentor, and join in the fun. The Hooley House is located at 7861 Reynolds Rd.
WHEELING CELTIC CELEBRATION: Peg and I had a real nice time in Wheeling this past Saturday. We'd like to thank Craig O'Leary and everyone associated with the festival for having us. It was our debut performance as The Odd Couple, and although we certainly missed Richie, it was kind of fun for us in a totally sickening, terrifying kind of a way. After going on seventeen years of playing music with Peggy, to get another chance at a musical "first-time" with her, was very special for me. She's put an awful lot of hard work in on getting ready for The Odd Couple, and that allowed for things to go as smoothly as they did for us on Saturday. I had a great time, and look forward to many more shows together. Just the two of us, we can make it if we try... (Sorry, I'll stop.) LOL
Our prayers and warmest wishes to Emma and her entire family. God speed.
And lastly, and most leastly... JUST KIDDING!! Seriously, Peg and I would like to give big props to Tom Fahey for being the consumate host. We had a great time, and look forward to returning the favor should he visit us in Ohio. Newsflash to the Wheeling BC Faithful: THE HOOLEY HOUSE is only a short 3 hour jaunt down I-77, yo! There's a nice Comfort Inn within stumbling distance as well. Also, The Odd Couple got a mention in a pretty cool blog site that covered the festival! That's our first mention "in print" of the Odd Couple! Thanks to John for letting us know about it: http://aroundtheville.wordpress.com/
TOLEDO IRISH FESTIVAL: The Odd Couple is looking forward to making its Toledo debut this Saturday March 14th at 10pm. We'll be at Toledo Central Catholic High School, closing the festivities down, and winding things up. Peg and I hope to see a lot of the Toledo area BC Faithful, as we start our Toledo Odd Couple odyssey. Party in Toledo this Saturday!!
MAVIS WINKLE'S: Hey Greater Cleveland area!! Don't forget, The Odd Couple will be making their local debut this Sunday, March 15th at 5pm at Mavis Winkle's in Independence, OH. Come on out for some great food, and some good times. Come day, go day. Winkle's on a Sunday...
ST. PATRICK'S DAY: There is more news to come on the greatest of all drinking holidays. Don't forget, we'll be at the all-new HOOLEY HOUSE in Mentor, OH from 4 to 7pm. Come on out for the first of what's guaranteed to be a great St. Patrick's day tradition. ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT THE HOOLEY HOUSE!!! ...and DON'T FORGET to look for the BRIGID'S CROSS/HOOLEY HOUSE FLOAT in the PARADE!!! We will be playing our hearts out on the float, and waving, of course!!!
That's all I got for now...
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 03/04 - Paulie B reporting
Whew... let's push some of the cobwebs outta here... Boy, is it dusty up in here... LOL
Well, happy humpday everybody!! I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've been in here, but that's just the way it is, I guess... Time is just FLYING by these days - even faster than usual, it seems. Peg and I have been super busy putting the new act together. That's right folks, The Odd Couple finally makes their debut at the Wheeling Celtic Celebration this Saturday afternoon at the Wheeling Artisan Center in downtown Wheeling, WV. Although we will surely miss not having Richie around, Peg and I are excited at the prospect of starting our life as "empty-nesters" LOL The Odd Couple will have 2 sets on Saturday, we hope you can make one or better yet, both! Saturday night we'll be on right before our good buds from NYC, The Prodigals! I always look forward to a drinking session with them (said with a twinkle in his eye...) Wheeling is always a great day, but combined with the pageantry and glamour of the debut performance of The Odd Couple capped off by The Prodigals???!!!! Better get there early!!
Speaking of Richie: The Hooley House is coming along very nicely!! Everything is on pace for opening on March 12th, last we hear. If you like good food, sports and beer, you're going to LOVE, LOVE LOVE The Hooley House!! The family has been going crazy, trying to make everything the best that it can be. I think that will become "crystal" the moment you walk in the place. The three of us are really looking forward to performing at the grand opening. This is by far, the longest stretch we've gone without gigging since Richie has been in the band, and the longest stretch BC has ever gone without a show!! I think I'm finally almost all rested up though, so it comes at a good time! LOL Anyways, suffice it to say, we hope that you make plans to visit us at The Hooley House, as soon as you can, from wherever you are. We think it's worth the trip from anywhere; we hope you'll agree!
Please check our schedule, as we've been adding dates, with more to come. Also, when you do check the schedule out, please make sure that you take the time to verify which group you are going to see. For now, it just makes sense for Peg and I to post everything we're doing on one calendar. Okay... I admit it... it's easier for me. Hopefully we can make the one schedule calendar system work. I'm all about easier!!
One of the shows Peg and I are really excited about, is our return to Mavis Winkle's. The Odd Couple will make their Cleveland area debut on Sunday afternoon March 15 @ 5pm at the beautiful Mavis Winkle's in Independence, OH on Rockside Rd and I - 77. Come on out for dinner and a show, Mavis Winkle's has GREAT food, so it's a no brainer. Come get your St. Patrick's Day on!!! It's never too early to start the SPD festivities!! Speaking of dinner and a show... starting April 1st (and this is no April Fool's joke, either... LOL) The Odd Couple will be performing dinner shows there every Wednesday in April from 6 to 9pm. The show will be 2 sets, with a little break in the middle, and the perfect way to break up the work week! Okay, so that's every Wednesday in April, from 6 to 9pm, with The Odd Couple, at Mavis Winkle's in Independence, OH. Now go write that down someplace!! LOL
And back to the schedule... as I said earlier, when you check our schedule, remember to make sure you check out who is playing on what day. Our calendar will feature dates for four (4) different projects that Peggy and I are involved in. Our calendar will list show info for: Brigid's Cross, The Odd Couple, Two P's in a Pub, and starting in April, Dolmen Stoned.
Dolmen Stoned - is a new band that will combine the efforts of the 2P's (Peggy and myself) with my/our good friend and buddy, that wacky Irishman himself, Mr. Kevin McCarthy. Dolmen Stoned will perform various celtic and other favorites, with a rockier feel, that even grandma and grandpa can enjoy!! With Kevin being involved, it'll be a blast!! LOL Dolmen Stoned will make their performance debut at The Hooley House on Friday night April 24 @ 9pm. Be there to witness Irish music history!! LOL
That's it for now, I think I overdid again. Now, get out there and stretch those drinking muscles. The High Holy Day is coming!!!
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 02/10 - Paulie B reporting
Hey all! We had another great Saturday at Casey's for our Two P's in a Pub karaoke! A lot of singers were on hand... Helena's "If I Could Turn Back Time" was really apropos. And who could forget Pie? Randy the Marine sang a few for Doug... Richie popped in with some friends to sing a couple of songs. And Whitey was there to do some more singing this week. He sounded great, but he hasn't incorporated the cowbell into his program yet...and he and Beth are off to Cali this week, so there will be no cowbell by him (for us) on Valentine's Day... Travel safe guys! Speaking of Valentine's Day, we will be at Casey's again this Saturday doing our Two P's thing, and we will have a special edition of I call Bull&*$#!!! You don't have to sing this week to play the game - it's "couples week" in honor of Valentine's Day. Just sign up with Peg when you get there, and you & your honey might get the chance to play! Plus, there will actually be a relatively nice prize this week for all finalists to have a chance at, on top of the lovely coozies, beach balls and party beads that we've been awarding!! So stop in Saturday, sing a song, request a song, play a game, or just try to drink away the economy, the bailout, the economic stimulus bill, and whatever else ails you.
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 02/04 - Paulie B reporting
And a fine Humpday to you and yours!
Peg and I had a great time this past Saturday at Casey's Bar doing our Two P's thing. The evening was saddened by the news of our dear friend Sean Moore's passing. We got the news just before we left for the boozer. Sean was a great man, and his passing is a real loss to the Irish community of Cleveland, and the local music scene. But Sean would be the first to tell you that the show must go on, so on it went. Our cowbellist extraordinaire Chris "Whitey" Welker was on hand and in fine voice. It was good to see him and his lovely bride, Beth, back safely from their little Florida get-away. Still no 5 Question winner in our little game called: I Call Bull$@%+! The game is really catching on, and we expect to be hearing from the major networks soon, but I see it more as a cable type TV show, we'll see... We're at it again this Saturday at 9:30pm, and we're supposed to hit 40 degrees that day! WOO HOO!! Come on out and sing, dance, play, or just listen, point your fingers, and laugh! Either way, it's all good baby, it's all good!!
We received some wonderful news earlier today. We were informed that BC was voted the best Traditional Act in a Festival, Pub or Concert setting, by the Irish Music Association!! We are very excited to win this award, and are honored and humbled. We'd like to thank the Association and its voters for bestowing this honor on us. Yo Adrienne, we did it!!!
I'm still working on the March schedule. As I said in my last post, there's a lot of schedule juggling for me as of late, but I'll get my act together one of these days! Maybe... Peg's been waiting for a very long time for that, I hope I don't let her down... Thank God she's a patient woman! LOL
Other than that, we're just chilling, waiting for the big thaw. I don't even want to talk about that stupid groundhog and what he saw the other day. Who didn't see that one coming??!!
That's it for now...
Peace!
We just want to express our sadness over the loss of two good friends of Brigid's Cross this week.
Our friend and mentor, Mr. Sean Moore passed away over the weekend. Sean was an Irish music icon in Cleveland...a great singer, and a great entertainer, he has been legendary for so many years here in town. Sean was so instrumental in bringing Irish folk music to the limelight in this city, and for helping to preserve our Irish music and culture. He was also a great supporter of Brigid's Cross, as well as other musicians in this city, end elsewhere. He sure will be missed.
Also, our dear friend Ann Dickenson from the Indianapolis area, succombed to her battle with cancer on Saturday. We will miss her so much...and we send our deepest condolences out to her huband Dick, and to her family. 500 miles will never be quite the same, Ann!
Godspeed, and safe home to both Sean and Ann.

Happy Humpday!!
Well, it's snowing again!! Not exactly a newsflash here in northeastern Ohio! LOL
Peg and I had just a great time at Casey's last Saturday night. A very nice crowd was on hand to sing karaoke, and play that crazy new game that's sweeping the block: I CALL BULLS#!+!! Still looking for our first 5 question winner. To date, the best we've had is 2 four question winners. Who will be the first to spin the drink wheel??!! And if that's not enough drama for you, starting this Saturday, all contestants will be vying for the chance at our version of Willie Wonka's golden ticket. That's right, all contestants will be playing for their chance to win an invite to a special VIP Private Pre-Opening Party at the ALL NEW HOOLEY HOUSE opening in early March '09!!! The only way you can get a chance at one of these golden tickets is to come on out and sing and party with the Two P's at Casey's. To track the progress of the Hooley House, visit their website at: 1funpub.com We'll be giving away golden tickets every Saturday through February, so gather up your crew, and come on down to Casey's!!
We'll have all kinds of schedule updates coming very soon, I know I've already promised this last week, but with everything that's been going on, I'm running a little behind. Be patient with me. Actually, I don't think I've done any "real" running since the Clinton administration, but that's another story for another time... LOL
That's it for now! Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 01/18 - Paulie B reporting
Happy Sunday!
Well, it was a slow start last night at Casey's Bar, but things picked up a bit a little after 11 o'clock. We had a good few groups come in, and some pretty good singers as well.
The debut of our crazy new game called: I Call Bull$%!+, went off pretty well. Nobody has won yet, the best performance was from Donny, who got three questions right. Will anybody get 5 questions? Only time will tell. We hope you can make it next Saturday the 24th to Casey's!
More news to come later in the week, keep well,
Peace!
BC NEWS DATELINE 01/11 - Paulie B reporting
Happy Sunday,
We (Peg and I) made it to Casey's last night, but we were some of the only people out on the roads last night (and we shouldn't have been.) LOL When we got to Casey's, the snow was still coming down pretty good, and with the lack of people out and about, we decided to forgo 'til next week. The trip from Parma Hts. to Lakewood and back took over two hours!! With NOBODY on the roads. It took well over twice the normal time! Oh well...
We were looking forward to getting our Two P's In A Pub era off and running last night. We had what was going to be a surprise (but now I can give you a little hint) all planned out for you.
We are going to be incorporating a game show that I dreamed up inside my head, into our karaoke. We call this game: I CALL BULL$#!+!! Every time you sing a song, your name gets put into a hat. Every so often, we'll draw some names from the hat, and call people up to play. People who play, and win, can pick a prize from our prize table. How do you play? Be at Casey's on the 17th to find out!!
Have a great week everybody!! Keep well,
Peace!

Happy New Year!! Here we are, the first post of 2009!! WOW!!! LOL
I/we hope that everybody enjoyed their holidays, or whatever they've been doing for the past few weeks, if anything. Our Christmas celebrations were wonderful, and we had a great time at Casey's bringing in 2009. Hope your new year has started off easy enough for you.
Lots of changes, and a very busy time for our family. It should be an interesting year, that's for sure! Plans for the Hooley House are coming along. The Reece family is all abuzz with excitement, as they are about to embark on their business venture. They are hoping to be open by the beginning of March. We'll keep you posted on that as they progress.
Peg and I are trying to help them with what we can, and we have an awful lot of work coming our way getting the new act together. The Odd Couple (as of now) is set to debut in early March as well. We're really looking forward to something new and fresh, and we think it's going to be a lot of fun. We'll be mixing in some of what you would probably expect out of us, with some stuff that may catch you by surprise. It should prove to be very interesting, and cheaper than therapy... LOL
This Saturday starts our first side venture: Two P's In A Pub Karaoke That's right, we'll be hosting karaoke at Casey's Bar in Lakewood. We'll get things going around 9:30pm, we hope you can bring a gang of people out, or just come on out yourself. It should be a great time, and we're trying to come up with some sort of prizes and what-not. Be there if you can.
That's it for now, I don't want to set the bar to high on the first post of the new year... ; ) >
Keep well.
Peace!

LOL Come say goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009 with us. It's going to be a GREAT party!!
Speaking of Casey's: Peg and I were scheduled to start our karaoke run on January 3rd. We have decided to push that back a week to get the most out of our holiday celebration, or recover from it, we'll see which one it is when we get there. LOL
Actually, Peg and I will be out that night to see our buddy Jim Tigue at the HOB in Cleveland. He will be performing with WISH YOU WERE HERE, a GREAT Pink Floyd trib band. We've never been in town (or we've been working) when they perform, so we're looking forward to finally seeing them. We've heard nothing but great things, and we're looking forward to the show.
Speaking of Jim Tigue: I (Paulie) will be performing with Jim at Pugs Mahone's on Monday January 19th. (MLK Day) Jim starts around 6pm and does the first part of the show himself, and I'll be joining him around 7:30pm, and we'll go til about 9 or so. It's always a good time, so make your plans to come out and party with us. Monday is a wonderful day to party!! LOL
and finally...
Nothing but the very best wishes for the happiest, healthiest and most prosperous 2009, from our family to yours. May the best of your 2008, be the worst of your 2009! Happy New Year!!
Peace!

BC NEWS DATELINE 12/09 - Paulie B reporting
Welcome to the last edition of this year's BC NEWS. (unless something too good to keep pops up between now & the new year... lol) There's going to be a lot of info coming at ya, so it's real important that you keep your head on a swivel, and concentrate. You might want to grab a bevy, some snacks, and get yourself comfy. Settled? Ok, here we go!
Our two "road" Christmas Concerts for this year were great, and we got to and from without any bother. Although we are kinda bummed about not performing a full-blown Christmas Tour this year, it is nice to be home. We kept it down to Toledo and Grand Rapids simply because they are both very established shows due to the hard work of Matt, Maury and everyone at the Toledo AOH, and our good friends Bill (Dutch) and Lisa Groot up in MI. Unfortunately for one reason or other, things just didn't work out for our normal Christmas Concert Tour schedule. To everyone who made the shows in Toledo and Grand Rapids, thanks for two GREAT nights! It was an honor to be a part of your holidays, God bless. (Oh, and Aunt Jo, you look great!! Stay strong, we love ya!!)
We have two LOCAL Christmas Concerts coming up over the next couple of weeks. This Saturday we'll be at St. Ambrose Church at Hilkert Hall in Brunswick, OH. Doors open at 6pm/show around 7-ish. There will be food available. Tickets are $10 each and proceeds will be split between the church mission fund in the DR, and locally at St. Vincent DePaul. To reserve your spot call: 330.225.3116
The following Saturday (the 20th) we'll be at St. Brendan's Hall in Akron, OH Show will start at 8pm/doors open at 7pm. This show is sponsored by the St. Brendan's Division of the AOH and will benefit the Arch Bishop Hoban Bagpipe Band, and tickets are also $10. To reserve tickets call Jan at: 330.256.6662
Also, don't forget we'll be at PJ McIntyre's on Sunday December 14th at 7:30pm. PJ's is located on the SE corner of Kamms Corner in Cleveland. This will be the pub's Christmas Party, and is a FREE SHOW!!
Well, we felt like we could squeeze in one more show before the new year, and it will be a dandy!! We are going to be at Casey's Bar in Lakewood for a New Year's Eve bash!!! That's right, say goodbye to 2008, and hello to 2009 with us!! Personally, I don't see a better value for New Year's Eve going, but that's just me...(and let's face it, with the economy and the holidays, a good deal couldn't come at a better time!!) Here's the scoop: We're gonna start the entertainment on NYE around 9 - 9:30pm. Seating will be general admission. (if you want a seat, get there early) We'll have our regular show, plus the karaoke machine going, and maybe even the dj gear will be poppin!! We're blowing past all the stops on this one, it's going to be a GREAT night!!!! Price of admission includes: BC show, karaoke, dancing, party favors/noise-makers, champagne toast at midnight, and appetizers/munchies. (while they last) All that for just $10 per person!! There will be cash bar. (normal entertainment drink prices) There will be limited tickets available, we're capping it at 150. Tickets will be available at all of our shows mentioned above, or at Casey's Bar during normal business hours. (hopefully by this weekend, call first) Casey's is located at 13601 Detroit Rd in Lakewood, OH. Ph: 216.226.5718 (Sadly, the rumor that Braylon Edwards will be there to drop the ball at midnight is just that, a vicious rumor)
While we are talking about Casey's, here's something else for ya. As a result of the economy, and other mitigating factors, we (Peg and I) have decided to bag going down to Florida this coming January and February. We've also decided that we don't want to be driving around up north here in our giant toboggan of a van. Don't get me wrong, Lady Blue gets us from A to B real nice, but she's not much in the snow... she's all over the place out there! So instead, we're going to shut it down and stay home and tough out the winter like most everyone else in the Buckeye state. We're going to take January and February, and use it to iron out our two-piece act, ya know, get the rig together for Green Season. Meanwhile Richie is going to be taking some time off, and enjoying some "off" weekends, before he starts really working for a living. The last we hear, he and his family are hoping to open up their pub in March. That's right, folks, get ready for the Hooley House Irish Sports Pub!!
Now, getting back to Casey's...
While we're in town, we're going to be picking up some karaoke gigs to stay busy, and keep us off the streets and in the pubs. LOL These karaoke shows will be hosted by Peg and I, and we'll be going by the handle of: Two P's In A Pub Karaoke. We will be starting off with hosting karaoke and DJ'ing at Casey's every Saturday night for the month of January. We'll start every Saturday about 9:30pm. If things go well, we may pick up every Saturday in February as well. We may also pick up an east side and a south side location for karaoke shows. As always, check back here regularly for new info. We hope to see you guys wherever we do these shows, for a great evening of fun. We're in the proccess of planning a singing competiton, (think American Idol format) and as soon as we get our act together with that, you'll be able to find that info on our website as well.
Brigid's Cross 2009
If you hadn't heard until now about the whole "Richie" thing, here's the deal. In a nutshell, we are NOT breaking up, we're just slowing down. Richie's mom and dad are opening up an Irish Sports Pub, and that's where he wants to focus his energy. Richie has been taking business courses online over the past few years, and is planning on settling down a bit, and helping out with the family business.
Brigid's Cross will be doing about 6 to 8 Irish Festivals in '09, and we'll be performing at the Hooley House on a semi-regular basis as well. We'll also do a couple of other select gigs when our schedules allow. At this time there are no (zero) plans to change the line-up of BC. To date, some confirmed festivals for the three of us (and the Rooster) are: Riverfront Irish Festival/Cuyahoga Falls, OH in June The Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival/Berea, OH in July The Dublin Irish Festival/Dublin, OH in August The Milwaukee Irish Festival/Milwaukee, WI in August
We are working on some other festivals for '09 that aren't confirmed as of yet, as well as some other shows. To our MATUNUCK friends, fear not!! We are still planning on performing at Tara's Joyce Family Pub in Matunuck, RI. In short, just keep regularly checking the BC website for updates and schedule additions.
This "BC slow-down" comes at a real good time for me. More than 40 years of fiddling (it will be 42 years in August) has basically left me with a whole bag of "medical issues." I've been dealing with some neck/shoulder/elbow issues for the past couple of years, with each year getting more tougher to take than the one before... go figure... lol So the plan for Peg and I, is to help the Reece family with the Hooley House in whatever way we can, with an emphasis on our end of booking the entertainment and special event co-ordinating, and we'll also be doing our Karaoke shows as: Two P's In A Pub. We also have a couple of other ventures that we're planning on getting going in '09.
Eventually, Peg and I will start performing as a two-piece combo, as well. Our two-piece will be a split of live performance, mixed with some karaoke, and who knows what. Lots of audience interaction and participation, loads of fun!! At this time, the name we are leaning towards for our two-piece is: The Odd Couple
And finally, with having all of this DJ and karaoke equipment, and the ability to mix in live performance, Peg and I are getting into the wedding/private party/special event business. We like to think with all of our combined experience, not to mention genetics... lol...we know a thing or two about partying. That's right, why settle for just a band, or a dj, when you can have it all in one tidy package. Peggy and I will be accepting wedding/special event bookings as The Odd Couple starting in April of '09. To book your wedding/special event, e-mail me at:

Change is inevitable, and is all around us these days. We are all excited at what the future brings for our family. With all these changes, please make sure to check back regularly for news updates.
Wow! That's going to do it for now, except for two more things.
First: Attention Greater Cleveland area drivers As of around 8:45am this morning, there's a new driver on the roads out there, and his name is Andy Baker. Lord have mercy on us all. LOL Actually, baby boy passed with a perfect score!!! (or so I'm told) Big ups to the Andyman!!
and finally...
From our family to yours: May you and yours have the healthiest, happiest, safest, joyous and most blessed Christmas holiday. If you're not into the whole Christmas thing, may you have peace, joy and the best of health as you celebrate whatever it is that you celebrate. May 2009 be a banner year for all of us, full of health and prosperity.
Thank you so much from the very bottom of our hearts for your love, support and friendship
Wishing you comfort and joy... Peace!
Dateline: Wednesday November 19
We had just the BEST time this past weekend on our BC Magical Buckeye Bus Trip. Thanks to all who went, brought home a win, and helped to make it such a memorable event. Our driver (Larry) and guide (John) were aces, and everything was pretty much smooth as silk. Pappy McHugh's "Apple Pie" was quite the hit, and helped to warm the bones nicely. Again, thanks to everyone who went, and yes, we're probably doing it again next year... That is, unless God has other plans... lol Speaking of God, a special shout out to Amy and Stormy: I'm/we're so glad that you enjoyed yourself. You are in our good thoughts and prayers. God Bless you and your family.
Our show at the Claddagh in Lyndhurst is still on. The sky is supposed to pretty much fall in though... geez, they're starting already with the snow warnings... lol If anything changes, we'll post it here, other than that, we hope to see ya at the Claddagh tomorrow night at 9pm.
Peace!
Dateline: Tuesday November 11 Happy Veterans Day
A most heartfelt thanks to our veterans, on this the day we honor them. Here's something to think about. It was sent to me in an e-mail, and I thought I'd share it.
It is the veteran, not the preacher, who gave us freedom of religion.
It is the veteran, not the reporter, who gave us freedom of the press.
It is the veteran, not the poet, who gave us freedom of speech.
It is the veteran, not the campus organizer, who gave us the freedom to assemble.
It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who gave us the right to a fair trial.
It is the veteran, not the politician, who gave us the right to vote.
It is the veteran who salutes the flag.
It is the veteran who serves or lies under the flag.
God Bless our Vets, our troops currently serving, and their families.
We had a great time at Jimmy's Bar last night for Karaoke Night. Tonight, it's on to Indy for another Claddagh Pub show. Don't forget, we'll be at the E 96st (Prececdent) location. Thursday is the Claddagh in Newport, KY. Hope to see you out and about!
Peace!!
Dateline: Monday November 10
Monday, Monday… Hi-de-ho neighbors!! Greetings and good morning from Madison, WI. Better grab your booties ‘cause it’s cold outside…
Seems that it has been since just before Halloween since our last post. We had a great time at Casey’s on the night before Halloween. The costume party was great fun! Winners names are being withheld to protect the not-so-innocent, but really, great job everyone!! Although as my Peggy put it, I must have to agree with her and say: I never thought I’d/we’d see the day that “Ski” would dress-up as Winnie the Pooh!! I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’… Sorry to throw you under the bus like that “Ski,” but WOW!!! LOL Don’t forget, we’re back at Casey’s the night before Thanksgiving, for our annual Turkey Eve Bash!! Showtime is at a special early 8pm time. That way, those who need to get to bed early, can, and those who want to stay out partying… enough said! We may have the old karaoke machine wired up for a little karaoke action after the show… we’ll see… Are ya planning on coming out that night? Would you like to sing some karaoke with us after our show? Let us know by sending an e-mail to:
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
. If there is enough interest, we’ll keep the party rolling, but you gotta let us know that you want it! Shoot the Pegger an e-mail and tell her that you want karaoke on Turkey Eve!!
Well, I’d say that the first two dates of our Claddagh Pub Tour went off without a hitch, and they almost did. Except for the fact that the folks here in Wisconsin thought we were coming in next week, everything else has been great.
We had an awesome time at the Claddagh in Geneva, IL on Friday night. There was a great turnout from the West Dundee/Elgin/Fox Valley area BC Faithful, and we most humbly thank them for coming out in force. There were some faces that we missed, but life has a funny way of getting in the way of fun every now and again… Hopefully, we’ll see those faces next time through. I won’t mention any names, you know who you are. Oh, and yes, we do take attendance… LOL Special thanks to GM Sean, (and his crew) for being such great hosts.
Saturday was an off day, and we enjoyed a little football and relaxation with our friends the McHugh family. As always, we thank them for their hospitality. Pappy McHugh even fired up the old kiln and made his special version of Apple Pie. As long as it survives the trip, (or doesn’t get all drank-up before then) the folks on this week’s BC Buckeye Bus Trip are in for a real treat. And yes Dutch, we’ll try to save some for you, for our trip up to Grand Rapids, but no promises… LOL
Sunday, we were off for Madison, WI to their Claddagh Pub. Just before arriving, I called and talked with manager Matt on the phone, and that’s when I/we found out about the date mix-up. Matt and acting GM Steve and their crew were great, and wonderful hosts as well. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a bad turn out. We had some friends who see us down in the Punta Gorda area, show up from out-of-the-blue, and the total shocker was our buds, Aaron and Angie from the old days at Durty Dineen’s Pub in Venice, FL “dropping by.” They made the four hour trip down from the Twin Cities (where they now call home) just to see us. It was REALLY great to see you guys, it's been way too long... We know there has been some mix-ups with the Claddagh Tour, but please be patient with us, and them. They are trying their best to get things back to the way they were supposed to be, (corporate stuff, don‘t ask… lol) and what they are trying to do by bringing these FREE shows in, is admirable, to say the least.
Don’t forget, this week we have the Claddagh in Indy (the Precedent location/E 96st) on Tuesday, and the Claddagh in Newport, KY on Thursday. Showtime is supposed to be 9pm for both shows, but you may want to call ahead and check the day of the show to make sure the start times are the same. Please come out and support us!!
Tonight, (11/10) we’re stopping in Peoria, and visiting our friends at Jimmy’s Bar for a very special KARAOKE night!! That’s right, we’re firing up the old karaoke machine for some good times at Jimmy’s. This is NOT a normal BC show, there will be no instruments involved. What will be involved is a whole bunch of insanity. You haven’t lived until you’ve heard our own SpongeBob sing James Taylor or David Allen Coe… trust me!!
And now… Richiegate! Despite my best efforts to be as clear as possible about the whole “Richie” thing, I guess I didn’t do so well. Yes, Richie is pulling his travel schedule with us way back, but WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP!! Geez!!! LOL As I said in my last post, (see below) we are still planning on doing several festivals this summer, and a handful of other shows throughout the year. By the way, the Dublin Irish Festival ‘09 has been confirmed since the last post. For more info on what’s going on, please read the post below, but please, NO MORE TEARS AND SAD LETTERS!!! LOL
And finally, I’d be remiss not to mention this…
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down to the big lake the call Gitche Gumee… Yes, it was 33 years ago today, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank into the icy waters of Lake Superior. God bless Captain Ernest McSorely and his crew of 28 men, and their families.
Have a great week everybody!!
Peace!!
Dateline Oct 29
Happy Humpday!!
We had a great time at Sully’s in Medina! The place was packed, and it was a whole bunch of fun. We’d like to thank everyone at Sully’s, and to all who took the trip out to see us! With as many people who showed up and stuffed the place, it makes me wonder what we might have drawn if we weren’t up against that bummer of an Ohio State game, not to mention the Notre Dame game… at least the Irish won!
Thursday is our Costume Party at Casey’s!! Show starts at 9:30 pm. For more info, scroll down and read the last post. We hope to see you at Casey’s on Thursday. Show your Celtic spirit and dress-up!! Halloween already… wow!
We start what has now become the first leg of our Claddagh Pub Tour next Friday in Geneva, IL. Please check our schedule for other Claddagh Tour dates. All start times are at 9pm, and all shows are FREE!!! Please come out and support the Claddagh, and us. We’d like to really help them in this venture. We think that it’s great they’re doing what they are to bring FREE music to their pubs, especially with today‘s economy. Our buddies from 7N did a similar tour for them, and I think the Claddagh is looking to add more acts in the coming months, but to do so, they/we need your support.
The winds of change…
Starting in 2009, Richie will be pulling back on his traveling schedule with us, by a good bit. Wanting to settle down with his bride, he’s also looking to get involved in his family’s business. I guess you could say that the desire to live life on the road for Richie, has shall we say, waned.
Peg and I, after enjoying seven years of the “Richie version“ of BC, have decided (for now, anyways) not to replace him. We still plan on doing a handful of festivals and select shows next year as BC, with the current line-up in-tact. I guess you could say BC is cutting back to part-time. The rest of the time, (without Richie) Peg and I are going to start performing as a two-piece. We have decided on calling our little two-piece combo (are ya ready for this?) The Odd Couple. It works for us, in SO may ways… LOL
In the coming weeks and months, you will see dates and more info about The Odd Couple, on the BC website. We hope that when we are in your area, or somewhere you’d like to visit, that you come out and party with us. Our plans are to create a show environment similar to what it would feel like if we had you over to the house, and just broke out the instruments and started an impromptu session. Lots of sing songs and humor, very laid back but hardly boring, just a feel good vibe…with the technology we have at our disposal, there are all kinds of crazy possibilities! Although the influence will always be Irish, who knows what you might hear on any given night?!
In a perfect world, things wouldn’t have to change. We all know that we aren’t living in a perfect world. Although we are sort of bummed that we just couldn’t keep going the way we have been, it was all kind of inevitable. Richie and Christine want to settle down a bit, and truthfully the combination of the way the economy has been, coupled with us (Peg and I) not wanting to travel as much, makes this a good time for the change. Peg and I will now be able to play longer runs at various spots, and not have to travel back and forth so much., which is really great, because I can’t believe how rundown I feel after this year, and we’re FAR from done… I hope! LOL
We are all very excited about what the future brings for all of us, and we all look forward to seeing you when we can.
To date, festivals we are planning on for BC in ‘09 are as follows: We’ve already been invited to the Riverfront Irish Festival in Cuyahoga Falls, OH in June the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival in Berea, OH in July, and the Matunuck Irish Festival in Matunuck, RI, in September.
We’ve been asked to keep the dates open for the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, OH in August, and the Milwaukee Irish Festival in Milwaukee, WI, also in August. We may also do another festival in September, and possibly the Weston Irish Festival in October. At this time, things are still a little up in the air. As soon as dates are actually booked and confirmed, they’ll be on our website on our schedule/appearance page.
We also hope to do some Put-in-Bay dates in ‘09 as both BC and The Odd Couple, and we look to being able to announce these dates soon.
Peg and I are planning on going down to Florida for a few weeks in late January, and February. We are working on dates and locations as you read this, and should be announcing them (hopefully) by the end of next week. We hope that some of you find yourselves in the position to be able to come down and join us for a weekend of fun in the sun!!
As far as Green Season ‘09 goes: It appears that most shows will be as The Odd Couple, but we are hoping to be able to do a few with Richie as BC, as well.
So there you have it. Please check back on a regular basis, and we’ll keep ya posted.
Peg and I are also really looking forward to working with some of the great musicians we’ve had the good fortune to cross paths with over the years, as well. As soon as these very special shows (side projects) come along, we’ll announce them asap!!
That’s going to do it for now, I think I’ve given you enough to chew on for awhile… LOL
Have a great week!!
Peace!!
TGIF!!! And yet another week goes by at lightning speed.
We had a great time at FitzGerald's in Berwyn this past Saturday. What a great room, with a lot of great history. There have been many fine musicians who have graced its stage, and 2 movies have featured this fine pub in them: Road to Perdition & A League of Their Own... Hmmm...Tom Hanks must have really liked the place. (And here's Marla Hooch... what a hitter!!!) We shared the stage on this night, with a fine group of local musicians led by the Bonacorssi (sp?) Brothers. Along with them, and our "Friends of the MDA," over $40,000 was raised for Muscular Dystrophy. (The place was packed!) It never ceases to amaze me what we people can do when we all work together. We'd like to thank everyone associated with this wonderful event, from organizers and volunteers, to those who came out and supported it.
Friday night, we saw a good few of our friends and BC Faithful in Arlington Hts. Special congratulations out to Marge and Dave Bush on 50 years together!!! Only 39 to go for me and the Pegger!!! Please, God!!!
Also, in last week's post, I neglected to mention anything about the Weston Irish Festival. Well, let me just say that they most definitely had a banner year, and we had a blast!! They hit what I like to call the autumn festival tri-fecta! Great weather, their football team on a bye week, and the Columbus Day holiday weekend. Yahtzee!!!!
Tomorrow (Oct 25th) we'll be making our debut at Sully's in Medina. Showtime is at 9pm. This is our first Greater Cleveland area weekend pub show since July 11th, with another one not happening until sometime in December, from the looks of things. We have 2 brand new hoodies that will be available for adoption. Just $30, and you can take one home. No background or credit check... nothing! This is a $5 savings of its normal retail value. (That was just a fancy way of saying Peggy wanted to have a sale!!) We're making tomorrow "Cross-dressers" night at Sully's. Show up in your BC attire and you'll get a raffle ticket. Somewhere past the halfway point of the show tomorrow, we'll draw 2 winners and we'll give away a red one and a blue one. (hoodie, that is)
Also, Thursday October 30, we'll be at Casey's in Lakewood for a COSTUME PARTY!!! Hey, Halloween is a celtic holiday for pity's sake!! Come dressed up for your shot at CASH PRIZES!!! Categories are as follows: Best single: $25 Best Couple: $50 Best Group (3 or more): $75 Winners will be chosen by audience applause. Direct BC family members not eligible, but still expected to dress up! (The costume contest is being sponsored by the Rooster Scramble. By the way, our tentative date for next year's golf outing is August 8th. If you thought this year's outing was way better than others past, you ain't seen nothing yet!!) That's it for now, more to get into next week... Hope to see you either tomorrow, or next Thursday, or better yet, both!! LOL Have a great weekend!!
Peace!!!!
Wow, has time really gotten away from me. This whole past month has been a blur, and there's no rest for the weary... well maybe there is. First bit of pressing news: Our Claddagh Pub shows for next Mon, Tues, and Wed have been postponed with tentative make-up dates in January. Just click each date next week to find the re-scheduled date on our Appearance Page. There was a mix-up in communication, and it was just easier to postpone. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. A special shout out to Pat of the Toledo Irish American Club for catching the date discrepencies. Thanks Pat!!
Looking forward to Peggy Kinaane's in Arlington Heights later today. This is a make-up fundraiser for the totally washed out Arlington Hts. Irish Festival this past July.
Also looking forward to helping The Friends of the MDA on Saturday at FitzGerald's in Berwyn. Info about both these shows on our schedule page.
That's it for now, more news next week... I PROMISE!
Peace!
Monday, Monday...
Well, after a "not-so-great" football weekend, here we are... I didn't realize that I had taken quite the posting hiatus that I had, my apologies.
Here's what's in the news this week:
Biggest News Item Of The Week:

Anyways, we are taking a bus trip that departs from Cleveland, picks up in Columbus, OH and then heads to Champaign, IL to watch the mighty Buckeyes attempt to get their sweet revenge on the Illini for last year's debacle at the Shoe. We have teamed up with the fine folks at Prime Tours out of Dublin, OH. The date of the game is November 15, 2008 We'll leave early Saturday morning, overnight in Indy, return on Sunday. Happy Humpday!!!
We had a GREAT weekend of fun with our annual Rooster Scramble this past Saturday. To all of this year's sponsors, volunteers, and golfers, our deepest thanks. Your support in keeping the legacy and memory of Alex and Alyssa Baker alive through our scholarship fund means more than you will ever know. I don't have a number yet on dollars raised, but we had to have our best year yet.
Special thanks go out to Richie, who did a fine job of lining up this year's sponsors and together with his mom, dad, wife, friends and family, put together a quality top-notch event. I'd be remiss if I didn't thank my Peggy for her contributions, and for just being Peggy! HI PEGGY!!!!!! LOL
The date for next year's outing is tentatively set for August 8, 2009
In case ya missed it, we have a FREE show tonight (8/13) at the Howe meadow @ 6:30pm. For more info check the schedule page.

$359/single * $279/double * $259/triple * $239/quad
So summer seems to be getting the best of me... I can't believe that it has almost been a month since I posted here. I just haven't been feeling like dealing with the whole computer thing, lately. My apologies for any hardships my laziness may have brought you! lol I actually had a brilliant post typed out the Monday after the Cleveland festival, but it got lost in cyber-space. Honest!! Needless to say, that didn't improve me wanting to get on this old bugger. lol
We have had an incredible 3 weeks, and it really has been a blur. The Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival, The Greater Hartford Irish Festival and the Dublin Irish Festival were all just amazing experiences. Really exceptional crowds, and an energy level that just seems to keep building. Although the finale at Dublin this past Sunday may have shattered the barometer! WOW!!! Saturday night's show in Dublin also seemed to have a special magic about it. There were a lot of people who have been around a while saying they thought it was our best... I don't know about all that, but it sure did feel pretty good!! Now if you thought that you witnessed anything special at any of our shows over the past few weeks, we sure would appreciate your comments on our guestbook. It seems a pampered ego heals the body quicker... LOL
A rest (of sorts) is coming at just the right time. This week is our Rooster Scramble Golf Outing, and Sunday we cap off the Lakewood Summer Concert Series. Okay, so maybe there is no rest for the wicked. Don't forget to bring blankets, chairs, and non-alcoholic beverages to Sunday's show.
The response to our Magical Buckeye Bus Trip with BC has been overwhelming. Oh, you haven't heard???!!!!
We are taking a bus trip that departs from Cleveland, picks up in Columbus, OH and then heads to Champaign, IL to watch the mighty Buckeyes get their sweet revenge on the Illini for last year's debacle at the Shoe. Here's what's in BC News for this week, and boy, it's a busy week:
This Friday we have the all together too rare Cleveland area weekend "pub" show. We are so looking forward to returning to PJ McIntyre's Pub at Kamms Corner, on Cleveland's west side. That's right, the corner of Rocky River Drive and Lorain Avenue will be rocking "Irish wake" style. We take the stage at 9:30pm. FREE ADMISSION & FREE PARKING!!!!
Saturday we're stepping outside of the box a bit...
We are honored to be a part of St. John Vianney's summer festival celebration in Mentor, OH. The parish is also honoring Father Kline who is celebrating an incredible 60th anniversary of his ordination!! We will be performing some of the music for a special 4pm mass honoring Father Kline, and then we do a "normal" set under their BigTop at 6pm. Join us for a little old-fasioned summer fun. Good news, this event is also FREE ADMISSION & FREE PARKING!!!
then... SUNDAY!!!! SUNDAY!!!! SUNDAY!!!!
We are excited to be returning to the Look About Lodge in the South Chagrin Reservation for an appearance at their SUMMER CONCERT SERIES. We enjoyed performing at the Look About Lodge two summers ago, and rumor has it that this is a "back by popular demand" show. The Look About Lodge is located at 37374 Miles Rd in Bentleyville, OH. Showtime is 6pm. Good news, the streak continues... this event is also FREE ADMISSION & FREE PARKING!!
There ya go... 3 very different local shows in 3 very different parts of the city. We hope to see the greater Cleveland area BC Faithful out and about this weekend.
Don't forget, next weekend is the grandaddy of all Ohio Irish festivals, the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival in Berea, OH. This year we are there on Saturday and Sunday only, as on Friday night, we are headlining the Arlington Hts Irish Festival in Arlington Hts, IL. Showtimes for Saturday and Sunday are on our Appearance Schedule page.
That's it for now!
Peace!!
Well hello there!!
Sorry for the hiadus, but it was time to step away from the planet for awhile. Yes, Matunuck was exactly what I needed! That, and getting away from cell phones and e-mails. For whatever reason, we don't get very good phone or wi-fi signal there. It's a real bummer, and a problem that I hope never gets fixed!! LOL
We had a WONDERFUL time. The trip there and back went smoothly enough, the shows and the karaoke were brilliant, Matunuck was Matunuck, (kinda like Manny being Manny... lol) everything was just top-notch! Tara and Fran have already done some lovely things to the place, and I can't wait to see what the finished product will bring. We'd also like to thank them for being such wonderful hosts to us and our family. I'm not wishing the summer away, but I can't wait for the Matunuck Irish Festival come the end of September... More on that at a later time.
It was great seeing all the Joyce's, and the cast of Matunuck Lunatics!! Vinnie made a couple of cameo appearances, and little Mikey is dancing faster than ever. It was just really great seeing everybody there, and as I said earlier, I can't wait to get back!!
We snuck in a trip to the Irish Riviera, which just happens to be Green Harbor, MA, for those who might not have known... We had a blast with the Killian family, and would like to thank them for their wonderful hospitality. I think Salmon Fest was a huge success!! LOL
A couple of weeks of sea air... bring on Put-in-Bay!!! LOL We'll be at the Beer Barrel Saloon tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. (July 3 - 5) Showtimes are 6pm - 9pm each day. Come on out and celebrate America's birthday with us!!
Whatever you do this weekend, please remember all those who have made it possible for you to do so. God bless our vets, troops and their families!!
Happy Fourth of July everybody!!
Peace!!
And another week goes by... Happy Humpday!!
We had a wonderfully wet and wild weekend in Indiana this past weekend. Before I go any further, our prayers are with all of the poor unfortunate victims of the storms that have been ravaging the midwest. Driving around central Indiana, the effects of these storms were pretty obvious. We hope that everyone affected can return to some type of normalcy very soon. We know that our buddy SpongeBob has been kept very busy through these trying times, so much so, that he couldn't join us in Indy this past weekend, as planned. Keep the head up Sponge!
Back to matters at hand...
Vintage Indiana went off as planned, despite a morning deluge of rain, and a very soggy Military Park. I believe that all in attendance enjoyed themselves, I know we did. It was a very casual setting, and it was great to see a bunch of the Indy BC Faithful on hand.
After our show, we headed for Rushville, IN to enjoy being a guest at their Summer Concert Series. We've performed their in the past (which is always fun) but it was great being a listener for a change. The evening ended much earlier than I would have thought, however, I guess this old body couldn't keep up with all the travel and performing all in the same day. Yeah, someone is getting old... but I'm not complaining!!
Sunday, we performed at Sarah Strobyl's graduation party. The Strobyls are a great family, and Sarah has been a remarkarkable student. Sarah is also one of our scholarship winners for this year, and our first valedictorian!! We had a great but all too short time, as we had to be back in Ohio early Monday morning for some family obligations. Congratulations Sarah, good luck at Butler!!
We're gigging tonight at Casey's. Show starts at 9:30pm. Come on out and shake off those mid-week blues with us, if you can!!
There is some discrepency with our show time for this coming Friday night at the Riverfront Irish Festival. Hopefully I'll be able to clear that up on here by tomorrow, so please check back. Besides, I've got a little more news that I don't have time to get into right now.
Peace!
Wednesday already??!! Happy Humpday!!
Wow!! Here we are the first Wednesday of June, and it's time to get our arse's in gear. Here's what's happening in BC News for this week.
Saturday we'll be at the Vintage Indiana Wine Tasting and Music Festival. Our show time is 2:30pm - 4:30pm Admission is $23 (day of show) but includes entertainment and wine. You can get $20 advance tickets at Indy area Marsh (sp?) stores. Location is the home site of Indy Irish Fest, Military Park in downtown Indy. Should be a great time. Music and wine... I can't help but think that our buddy Joe Butler (God bless him) will be watching over us on that deal. Red, red wine. Makes me high all the time... LOL
Sunday we'll be in Rushville, IN for Sarah Strobyl's graduation party. We're looking forward to seeing many of our Rushville friends, and it should be a grand affair!!
Next week it's Casey's on Wednesday and the Riverfront Irish Festival in Cuyahoga Falls, OH over the weekend. More on that next week.
Don't forget. our Rooster Scramble Golf Outing is Saturday August 9th at Mallard Creek Golf Club. More info on that coming next week as well, including hotel info and the such. We hope that you can join us from wherever you are, for a great day of fun.
The Henhouse Hooley which was scheduled for the night before, will not be happening due to not finding an appropriate venue. We hope to reschedule at a later date.
That's it for now.
Peace!
Happy Humpday!!
Here we are again for the latest in BC News:
We had an absolutely brilliant time at the Beer Barrel Saloon this past weekend. The crowds on Thursday and Friday were a bit weak, but Saturday afternoon was great craic!! All in all, another Memorial Day weekend at Put-in-Bay is in the books, and summer is officially here!
Saturday night we were able to get off the island, and we made it to our good friends John and Laurel Ryan's house for their annual holiday party. This year's party was also a surprise birthday party for Laurel... good times! Oh, the jell-o!!!
This weekend is an off weekend, and next weekend we are in Indy for the Vintage Indiana Wine Fest on Saturday, (which should be great fun!) and then we are in Rushville, IN for the Strobyl's graduation party on Sunday. (which should be great fun as well!) The following weekend is the Riverfront Irish Festival, and then we are in Rhode Island. And so on, and so on... Yep, summer is here, thanks be to God!! As always, check the schedule page for more info on what's happening in the world of BC.
There's a new BC T-shirt on the horizon. We are hoping to debut it at the Riverfront Festival. I think it's a pretty cool design, and I hope y'all will agree. Sadly, we weren't able to get into the recording studio as we had hoped, so it appears that there won't be a new CD out this summer. At the end of the day, it just didn't happen for a myriad of reasons... oh well.
That's gonna wrap it up for BC in the News for this week.
Peace!
Happy Thursday!!
Yes siree... feeling thirsty on Thursday... Lucky for me, we're headed for Put-in-Bay today!!
Sorry for the absence, but we haven't had much to say, and let's just say that I took full advantage of that time!! It was g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s... lol
We had a great weekend, last weekend at the Detroit Beach Boat Club. Mr. and Mrs Beer God were great hosts, as well as the rest of the gang at the DBBC. Hopefully we get to party with those knuckleheads again real soon!!
Is it just me, or is anybody else out in the BC Galaxy finding it hard to believe that here we are staring Memorial Day weekend smack dab in the kisser??!!! We've made it folks, SUMMER IS HERE!!! WOO HOO!!! Albeit summer in Ohio, so it's currently like 50 degrees out me auld window!! LOL Although they say we could hit the 80's by Monday... we'll see!!
So anyways, here's the deal. We're chilling the early part of this fine holiday weekend at the Beer Barrel Saloon at PIB. We've got a 6 - 9pm show tonight, and a 2 - 6pm'er on Friday and Saturday. Hopefully you can join us for a little libation!!
We hope whatever you do this weekend to celebrate, that you're safe, healthy and happy. Please take some time to pray or wish well our soldiers and their families. Especially those who've made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who are so very far away from their homes and families right now. God bless them all.
Hey, summer has started!! Go enjoy your weekend and please come back Wednesday of next week for more updates and BC news. There will be a PIB weekend recap, Rooster Scramble (our Golf Outing) news, and more!
Peace & Slainte!!
Happy Humpday!!!
Looks like it's that time o' the week...
We had a great time at PJ McIntyre's this past Friday. It was great to be in front of the hometown crowd. It was a post Cavs victory party of sorts, those were happy days... lol
You'll have to excuse me, I'm still trying to recover from that stinker of a basketball game that Cleveland Cavaliers played last night... especially the King. But that's another story... I guess that I should just be happy that they got by the Wizards... LOL
Thursday night we get a little more home cooking. We'll be at Casey's Bar in Lakewood, OH. The show will start right after Game 2 between the Cavs and the Celtics. We'll be there to watch the game before our show, so join us for Cavs and cocktails!
I need to go lie down now... LOL
Peace!
Happy Humpday!!!
Here I am, back on my regular posting schedule. I know of at least one person who should be happy. Maybe even a few more... lol
Here's what's in BC News for this week:
MATUNUCK ALERT - MATUNUCK ALERT - MATUNUCK ALERT - MATUNUCK ALERT!!!!!!
We are excited to be adding another weekend to our June schedule this year! First of all, we are happy to announce that we will be back at the Joyce Family Pub the 3rd weekend of June. (Sat the 21st @ 9pm and Sun the 22nd @ 5pm) But the party doesn't end there... oh no!!! We'll be hosting karaoke the following Wednesday (the 25th @ 9pm) and we'll be back performing as BC the following weekend of the 28th @ 9pm and the 29th @ 5pm!! That's right, TWO WEEKENDS OF BC, BACK TO BACK, ONLY AT THE JOYCE FAMILY PUB!!! It's gonna be great!! We're SO excited!! Why I can almost taste Tara's creamy pints of love... Now I'm REALLY EXCITED!!!! LOL
HEY CLEVELAND AREA BC FAITHFUL!!!
We hope to see you out and about this Friday night May 2nd, as we make our triumphant return to PJ McIntyre's Pub. PJ's is located in the Kamms Corners area of the west side of Cleveland. (Lorain Rd & Rocky River Dr) Showtime is 9:30pm. We've got some new tunes that we haven't performed before our "home" crowd as of yet, to lay on y'all. Man, it seems like forever since we've done a show at home. Believe it or not, this is our first Cleveland area pub show of the year!!
But wait, there's more!! There are TWO triumphant returns!! Now how much would you pay?? Good news!!! You don't have to pay anything!! Both shows are FREE!!!!
We'll be making our triumphant return to Casey's Bar in Lakewood, one week from tomorrow night. That's right, we'll be back at Casey's on Thursday May 8th @ 9:30pm. Casey's is located a couple of blocks east of W 140th street on Detroit Rd.
Both of these are great pubs, and we look forward to seeing the Cleveland area BC Faithful out for a couple of nights of fun. Oh, and as always, out-of-town BC Faithful are highly encouraged to visit!!
That's all for now...
Peace!
TGIF!!!
That's right, thank God it's Friday, and thank God we're home! In case you haven't checked the schedule page, our shows for the Celtic Ray this weekend have been cancelled. We had a few things to take care of here on the homefront, so here we are, back in the Buckeye state!! To all who planned on joining us at the Ray this weekend, we're sorry that we'll miss you, and we're also sorry for any inconvenience.
It is great to be home for awhile, and we'll have more news next week, just as soon as I recover from my van-lag... It's brutal... lol
Have a great weekend!!
Peace!
Happy Humpday!!
I hope this Wednesday is starting off as gorgeous in your part of the world, as it is in ours. It's just a B -A-UTIFUL morning in Punta Gorda, FL!!
This past weekend at the Celtic Ray was a grand one, indeed. There was enough of a rain just before our Sunday show, which made us move the action inside, and THAT was even fun. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to play to an overpacked Celtic Ray.
Today, we celebrate the life of Joseph O'Connell at the Celtic Ray. Festivities start at 3pm. We've been kind of waking Joe since this past Friday, so he is truly going out in grand "Irish" style.
This weekend is the Punta Gorda Block Party, so we are hoping for even bigger crowds and better weather... is that wrong??!! LOL
So, that probably wraps it up for this week's news... Yep, it does... LOL
Peace!
Greetings from Anna Maria Island!! (by Bradenton, FL for all you map searchers out there)
It is a GORGEOUS morning, and I'm trying REALLY hard to look at what I'm doing, rather than staring at the beautiful ocean that's right outside the Ryan's cottage. So this is gonna be really short... LOL
Just wanted to let you know that we're all doing fine, and sadly the only real news is very sad news. Our deepest sympathies are extended out to the O'Connell family (new owners of the Celtic Ray) on the passing of Joseph O'Connell. It looks like we're going to have ourselves an old fashioned Irish wake at the Celtic Ray this weekend. We have to send him out in style!! Safe home, Joe!!
We've had a great time here in Anna Maria, with John and Laurel Ryan, Judy, Holly, and our good friend from Omaha, Iron Mike. But it's Friday, so it's back to Punta Gorda. Our deepest thanks to them all for being so good to us, but it's back to work for us... LOL
I'll try to check in again early next week, have a GREAT weekend everybody!!! Wonder if there will be any surprise visitors this weekend...
Peace!!
Greetings from just outside Savannah, Georgia... Sorry about missing my usual Wednesday update, but we were doing the "road" thing. Peg and I are making our way down to Punta Gorda, for our April run at the Celtic Ray, which starts this Friday night, April 4th. Now, here's what's in the news.
We've added a show to our May schedule. We're looking forward to returning to Quinn and Tuite's in Grand Rapids, MI on May 16th @ 9:00pm. This is a special Friday night show, and tickets are $15. For tickets call: 616.363.8380
Peggy posted a new blog a few days back, in case ya missed it, and that's going to do it for now. More stuff to talk about, but that will have to wait for another time. Time to hit the road, hit it Willy!! On the road again...
Peace!!
It's Humpday again...
Greetings from Parma Hts, OH!!
Totally enjoying this time-off period, here's what's in the news:
ATTENTION GREATER CLEVELANDERS!!!
We've added a few new "LOCAL" shows to our calendar. Cruise on over to our Appearance Schedule link, off to the left, and check it out!! Real quick, I can tell you that we added to May, June, July and August, with more to come, so keep checking!!
ATTENTION GREATER INDY AREA!! (and anybody else who doesn't mind a roadtrip and loves a good old-fashioned party)
Our time for the Vintage Indiana Wine Festival on Saturday June 7th, is 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
That's all I have for now, keep the faith!
Peace!
Happy Humpday!!!
Greetings from Peoria, IL Now here's NEWS fresh off the presses!!
I (Paulie) did a phone-in interview with WIRL's Dan Dermody earlier this morning. As always, it was great talking with Dan.
We're totally looking forward to doing a show this afternoon at St. Phil's K-8. We are the last period assembly!! I do believe that we have now hit the entertaiment mecca!! LOL We'd like to thank Jim Spears of Jimmy's Bar fame, for setting this up for us.
In case you missed it on the Home page: This Sunday's show at the ESIA in Euclid is a members only show. If you are not a member, or a guest of a member, you can not go. Sorry for any incovenience, but we have no control over the situation.
MARK THE DATE: Our 8th Annual ROOSTER SCRAMBLE GOLF OUTING is offically booked. We will be holding our outing Saturday August 9th, 2008 Tee time is 11:30am - Cost is $85 per person/$340 per foursome Special hotel pricing and more info coming soon.
I (Paulie) should be updating the old blog later this afternoon... no promises, but I'll try...
Peace!
Holy Thursday, Batman!! Well... not quite, but I couldn't resist! I had every intention of posting yesterday, it just never happened. Sorry Beth, and anyone else who may actually care... LOL
WHEELING CELTIC CELEBRATION:
We had an awesome time at the WCC!! We were the closing set, which works real well because nobody can clear a joint like we can... LOL (Again, I couldn't resist) Actually, there was a great turnout, Wheeling really repped! And so did the BC Faithful from Ohio and Pennsylvania. Whitey and Beth were there, so we had MORE COWBELL!!! The Martin's were also on hand for both shows, and helped with the merch. Thanks guys!!! We debuted the newest version of our "get to the pint" shirts, now in kelly green!! They seemed to be a hit, hopefully you'll agree. After the festival we went to Tee Jay's for food, bevy and fun. Good times!! Thanks to Craig O'Leary, and everyone involved with the fest, for another great year. If you came to the show, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU, to you as well.
BYRNE'S PUB:
Sunday (the next night) we performed at Byrne's Pub in Grandview, OH. (near Columbus) We haven't gigged at Byrne's in a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng time! A very nice crowd turned up for our return show. The Beamish was flowing, and we ripped off a 2 and a half hour set. Murt Byrne did a real nice job running the sound, and Peggy was the recipient of some brand new tippers from master luthier and good BC buddy, Bob Kirby. A magical evening.
Peggy's cold was diagnosed as a touch of bronchitis yesterday, but she's been given some good strong medicine that seems to be doing its job quite nicely. I've been trying to fight it off as best I can. I'm hoping to keep from getting it, but it's running me down, man. I can feel it trying to get me. Must, fight, off, getting, sick... We got too much to do!! Hope we see ya somewhere.
More news later this week, that's all for now.
Peace!!
Posted Feb 29
I just had to take the "op" to post on this special 29th day of February. Since I didn't feel that I had enough energy/info for two posts this week, I must apologize to Beth for not having her Wednesday update for her.
Peggy has been fighting (and losing) a battle of epic proportions with a pretty horrible cold for the past week. It seems that northern winters just don't agree with us anymore... LOL Looks like we'll have to work on extending our stay at the Celtic Ray a little longer next year...
No "real" news of substance to report. We are looking forward to the Wheeling Celtic Celebration tomorrow. (Sat) The boys from Homeland will be there... THAT should be fun!! We are also looking forward to returning to Byrne's Pub in Columbus, where they serve a mighty jar, on Sunday night @ 7:30pm. It's been too long since we've gigged at Byrne's...
St. Patrick's day is coming!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!
It's the most wonderful time, to drink beer!!!!!
Peace!

Happy Humpday!!
We had a GREAT final weekend at the Celtic Ray this past weekend! Great weather, great crowds, and even greater, the people in attendance at our shows. Once again, people from all over the country were on hand for our bon voyage weekend. Thanks to everybody who visited us during this run.
I hope you all can make plans to join us at the Celtic Ray in Punta Gorda, during the month of April. There are a lot of things being planned for our April run, and as soon as we get final details, obviously, we'll post the info here on our site.
We'd like to thank Patrick, Melisa, Bert, Joe, and the entire staff at the Ray, for such a wonderful time, and for taking such good care of us. We just left, and we are already looking forward to returning!!
Laying low until March 1st, and the Wheeling Celtic Celebration. Looking forward to some great high school wrestling until then. GO BRUINS!!
Peace!

Hi everybody! Not much to report today, but Beth does like her Wednesday updates, so I thought I'd pop in and just tell you that we are enjoying the last of one heck of a run here at the Celtic Ray. One more weekend to go, and then it's back up north to the "real" world. LOL
Looking forward to seeing who shows up this weekend. Every weekend we have been blessed with visitors from all over the country, Ireland and England. It's been very humbling, I'll tell you that. Patrick (the new owner of the Celtic Ray) sez he has a big party planned for our final weekend. I can't wait to see what he has in store. Funny how people celebrate our leaving... hhhmmmm...
That's it for now. Peace!

Superbowl weekend was a huge success for everyone but the New England Patriots, their fans, and anyone who bet on them to win it all. (Ouch!!) Luckily, I (Paulie) had my money on the smart bet… nobody! I really felt that the Giants would cover the spread, and even gave them a chance of winning, but that’s another story for another time… Maybe, maybe not... LOL
Alright, maybe we should just leave it at: Superbowl weekend was a huge success at the Celtic Ray!! Friday and Saturday nights were great craic! Again, there were BIG crowds on both nights, and the weather was warmer. Hopefully that trend continues this weekend, we’ll see. Sunday, Patrick and Melisa took a gang of us to Miami for a little “r and r.” (Other names are being withheld to protect the “not so innocent!!” LOL) We stayed at a lovely resort, and had a grand time! We spent a few days in Miami, and got back into Port Charlotte just in time to hit NancyTown last night!! I tell ya, with all of this hospitality going around, we’re starting to really feel spoiled… We’re not complaining mind you, I was just thinking out loud… LOL
I sure hope that all this continues when we come back in April… Ooops!! Well there I went and let loose one of today’s big announcements!! That’s ok, I’ve got more to talk about, so git yerself comfy!! But anyways… that’s right folks: BRIGID’S CROSS WILL BE RETURNING TO PERFORM AT THE CELTIC RAY, EVERY FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY THE ENTIRE MONTH OF APRIL!!!
The O’Connell family has gone out of their way to make it known to us that they are going to make a go of the Celtic Ray(s), and that they want BC to be very involved with its growth. There has been a lot of “drama” regarding the Celtic Ray recently. We truly hope and pray for a bright future for everybody involved, as we all (hopefully) move into the future. There are some BIG plans for April, so stay tuned…
On another note:
THE BC ROOSTER SCRAMBLE IS BEING MOVED TO A DIFFERENT DATE!
That’s right, our golf outing to benefit the Alex & Alyssa Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund is being moved back from its normal time in June to August 8th (hopefully.) We will keep ya posted on the details as soon as we get them in.
This just in, as well:
OUR SCHEDULE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH SOME OF WHAT WE’LL BE DOING THROUGH SEPTEMBER… AS LONG AS GOD DOESN’T HAVE ANY OTHER PLANS… CHECK IT OUT!!! TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT EACH EVENT, JUST CLICK YOUR BROWSER OVER THE DATE IN QUESTION.
Oh yeah, one more thing…
TO ALL WHO WROTE LETTERS ON OUR BEHALF TO CATHY AT THE ARLINGTON HTS. IRISH FESTIVAL…
Your voices were heard!! We are happy to announce that we’ve been re-invited to perform in Arlington Ht’s on Friday July 18th. Performance time is TBA. Thanks to all the BC Faithful who had our backs!!! We are truly blessed!!
That’s all I got for now… PHEW!!!
Until we meet again… Peace!
AT LAST!!!! UPDATES!!!
I know, we're terrible... put us in sunny Florida, and see what happens!! LOL
We've posted our March (Green Season) schedule, look for a couple of more shows to be added over the next few days, and more coming for this spring/summer.
Paulieblog is all new and will fill you in on what has been going on. Check it out!
Peace!
Happy New Year!!!
Sure, it's about 15 days late, but we don't mean it any less... Welcome to 2008 BC!! LOL
I know that it's been a while since we've updated the old site here, but these things sometimes happen... Maybe we could call it our Christmas break?? That wouldn't be fair either, as I've actually been doing quite a lot of the booking shtuff that needs to be done, so that we can come out and see you fine folks. It's the part I like least about what we do, but it needs to be done!
Since last we spoke, (here anyways) our Richie got married!! Sorry fellas, but Christine Houser is now Christine Reece, and offically off the open market. We (Peg and I) couldn't be happier for them both, and we wish them all the joy we know that marriage can bring. Right Peg??? Yep, each day gets better than the next!!! LOL
We're looking forward to our 5 week hiatus to the Celtic Ray in Punta Gorda, Florida!! We were actually supposed to have been down there already, but there was a little bit of "drama" going on. I'm happy to say that all seems to have settled down, and we should be on the road sometime this evening, if this bloody snow ever stops... LOL Our first show is this Friday night at 8pm, we hope to see you down there if not this Friday, sometime during the time we are there. We know that a lot of people are planning on making the pilgrimage to Punta Gorda, and we can't wait to see who shows up!! There is a brand new beer garden at the "Ray," and that's where you'll find us. (weather permitting) If not, we'll be inside, but remember to bring jackets and blankets (especially if you're a "freeze-baby!!) in case we are outside as planned, as it does tend to get cool at night.
I was hoping to update our schedule page before we left, but that's not going to happen. Look for more updates early to mid next week. By then, we'll have our first weekend at the "Ray" under our belts, and we'll be able to tell you all about that as well. We'll be announcing our Green Season schedule, and some of the festivals that we have locked in for 2008, so please check back next week!
Well, there are things to be done... Please wish us a safe jouney, and safe travels to all who will be coming down to see us!! Peace!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
From our houses to yours: May you find the peace, comfort and joy that this wonderful holiday brings. God Bless Us Everyone!!
If you're not into Christmas... HAVE A GREAT DAY!! In fact, have a great day even if you ARE into Christmas...
LAST THREE LOCAL SHOWS OF THE YEAR!
And then, there were three... Hard to believe we're there already, but 2008 is almost here. We hope to see as many of the Cleveland area BC faithful as we can over the next ten days! The countdown starts Saturday night at the Flat Iron Cafe. Show time is at 8:00pm. Reservations are strongly suggested (216)696-6968
Sunday, we'll be at the West Side Irish American Club for our third annual Christmas Concert. Showtime is at 5:00pm Members $5, non-memebers $8. This is our last Christmas concert of the year, and always a great time at the W.S.I.A.
Then Thursday, the 27th, at 9:30pm, we'll be at Casey's Bar on Detroit Rd. in Lakewood. This will be our LAST LOCAL SHOW OF THE YEAR! They've done a lot of really nice work at Casey's, and the place looks great. Casey's has become one of our very favorite neighborhood spots to play. This will also be our bon voyage party, as it will be the last local show before we head down to Florida. We won't be back in the Cleveland area until near the end of February!
ANNOUNCING OUR FIRST ANNUAL "LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR" DRAWING!! Everyone who attends our show at Casey's on the 27th will be given a raffle ticket. At some point during the show, we will have a drawing. If you win, then you and three friends of your choice will be our guests for breakfast on March 17, 2008! Oh, by the way, I guess now is as good a time as any to announce that we're very excited that we will be home for St. Patrick's Day 2008!! (more details to come on that) So come on out to Casey's for the last show of the year, and get your ticket for a chance to start your St. Pat's Day '08 with BC!!
CELTIC RAY/PUNTA GORDA NEWS
There has been a changing of the guard, so to speak, at the Celtic Ray in Punta Gorda. Apparantly the "Ray" was sold in October of '06, and the new owner kept the then-current staff and management on to run things. Stories of a partnership were told, to try and prevent anyone from thinking the place was going to change. In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best way to go about things, but shtuff happens!! After a year, the new owners not happy with the management, served them notice. This has caused a bit of a stir with some of the locals, as rumors are being spread, accusations are being made, none of which are any of our business.
What is our business, is whether or not the new owners wanted us to continue to perform. Happily, I can report that they do. They just wanted to shorten our engagement by a couple of weeks.
Kevin and Max Doyle (former owner/management) over the years, have become very dear friends to us, and I have spoken with both of them regarding this whole thing. They have both been very understanding, and Kevin himself told me that he wishes for us to continue to perform at the Ray. It will be more than just a little strange to not have them there, we will miss them, and we wish them all the very best!!
We do look forward to returning to Punta Gorda and the Celtic Ray. Our new schedule is posted for January and February on our APPEARANCE page. We hope that we haven't inconvenienced anyone with the two weeks that were cancelled, and if so, we sincerely apologize.
PUT-IN-BAY - BEER BARREL '08 SCHEDULE

ATTENTION CLEVELAND AREA BC FAITHFUL!!!
This is a big, and I mean BIG week of upcoming shows for BC in the Cleveland area. Some people may say too big, but considering we haven't done a pub show in town since back in May, not to mention that unfortunately THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES have given us plenty of reasons to drown our sorrows, we hope that you can make your plans to join us somewhere along the line!!
It all starts Thursday (the 15th) at Casey's Bar on Detroit Rd in Lakewood, OH. We'll start sometime around 9:30pm. They have done a lot of work at Casey's, and the place is looking really great!! We always have a fun night there, and we certainly hope to see you this Thursday night.
Friday, (the 16th) we play a brand new pub for us, and a pretty much a brand new pub, period. It is located in Cleveland's Kamm's Corners area. The pub is called PJ McIntyre's, and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Peg and I delivered some posters and walked into the place for the first time last Monday. You are going to love PJ's, I pretty much guarantee it. They are still working to get their kitchen open, (although you'd never know it by the way everything looks, again, the place looks great) but unfortunately it won't be open for this weekend. So just bring along your drinking wellies, and plan on a great time at a great new pub. Just a suggestion here, but if you plan on joining us Friday night, how about wearing something red in support of the Troops. Lord knows they deserve our support and prayers, especially with the holiday season approaching. The wear something red on Fridays to support the troops has been going for awhile now, let's do our best to keep it going!!!
It all wraps up Saturday night (the 17th) at one of our favorite spots to do a dinner show. We'll be back at the Flat Iron Cafe on the East bank of the Flats, upstairs of course! Actually, it is the Grand Re-opening of the upstairs. There was a bit of a fire at the Flat Iron a few months back, thankfully nothing too, too serious, but they were forced to close the upstairs, since. We're looking forward to seeing the remodel of the "all new" upstairs. The kitchen will be open, the good times a flowin, so join us Saturday night at 9pm. Due to shall we say limited seating, reservations are suggested. 216.696.6968
So there ya go, a "local" weekend with Brigid's Cross is on tap. We're looking forward to it, we hope to see the Cleveland area BC Faithful out in force.
Also, don't forget... we'll be back at Mavis Winkle's in Twinsburg for our Turkey Eve show on Wednesday night (the 21st) at 8pm. Winkle's is another great place for a dinner show. So give mom, or whoever (even if it's just yourself... lol) a break and plan on dinner and a show with BC to kick off the holiday season. Can you believe it??? The holiday season approaches!! There was a bit of confusion on whether they were accepting reservations or not, and they have since decided to accept reservations for parties of two or more, starting that evening at 7pm. To make your reservations, (and I would HIGHLY suggest doing so) please call: 330.405.3663
That's all for now.
Peace!
Hey Everybody! I just updated some dates on the old Appearance page. November is pretty much complete, and we'll be adding a few dates in December. More info on the Christmas Concerts (ticket prices/availability/etc) to follow. So please keep checking the BC Appearance page as often as you can stand it. We'd hate to miss seeing ya!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
PRICE'S PUB SHOWS CANCELED:
We regret to announce that this Saturday night's show at Price's Pub has been canceled, as well as all future shows there. We are working to re-book the dates that we had with them, elsewhere, and will post them as soon as we get them. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may bring, but sadly, these things sometimes happen.
A new BC Prayer Thread has been added to the message boards. As the description says, the Faithful is more than just a name. We think it would be great to be able to pray for our friends when they need it, and for our friends to pray for each other when there's a need.
Please take a moment to check out the threads there and keep the Faithful in your thoughts and prayers.
